That's one of the worst things about WWE programming, where you have to watch the same gimmick match 2-4 times on a show (if you're lucky it's just one men's match and one women's, but sometimes you get men's and women's for both Raw and Smackdown).
AEW is doing the same thing, announcing a "Casino Battle Royal" for the women at All Out.
If ROH ever does something like an Honor Rumble or Survival of the Fittest for the women, then that should be the only one they do that year. They could alternate every year or something. 2021 SOTF is for men, next year the women can do it. Maybe this year the women get Tag Wars or Top Prospect, then next year they could switch.
Women and men are equals. There's no reason you can't have one match for each. This is outdated thinking.

It makes the match feel less special when we see two versions of it on the same card. When it's the women's turn to have a match of that sort, it should be the featured match on the card. Not a warm up to the men's match.AnHonorableMention wrote: ↑Thu May 27, 2021 5:26 pmIn theory the rules are the same, the participants aren't so I don't consider them the same matchfamicommander wrote: ↑Thu May 27, 2021 2:33 pmIt's not a matter of equality, it's a matter of not wanting to see multiples of the same gimmick matches in short timespans.AnHonorableMention wrote: ↑Thu May 27, 2021 1:50 pm

At times it has been and rightfully so the men warming up the crowd for the women. When the WWE makes a show have a gimmick match as the theme it's troublesome. But there's no reason you can't have two matches with that theme.famicommander wrote: ↑Thu May 27, 2021 5:31 pmIt makes the match feel less special when we see two versions of it on the same card. Nope. I am an independent. I just don’t like stuff because it’s the “right” thing to do. I can dislike stuff that goes against whatever you think is the right thing to say. I guarantee that most of the straight male crowds don’t want to see Sonny Kiss wrestle. But heaven forbid you were to dislike him. People like you assume it’s because he’s gay or black. Maybe he just sucks and isn’t your cup of tea???AnHonorableMention wrote: ↑Thu May 27, 2021 5:25 pmSounds like a red hat person. Women’s wrestling can’t stand on its own. That’s pretty much a fact. Little boys don’t grow up wanting to be like women. Only “non-traditional” ones do. There’s nothing wrong with some 6 year old boy who idolizes Charlotte Flair, but they’re in the minority. The majority of 6 year old boys want to be like Randy Orton.

It’s stupid. Ever hear of TNA Lockdown? All matches are in a steel cage. Do you think the main event felt more special because it had the same stipulation as the previous 8 matches? Of course it didn’t.AnHonorableMention wrote: ↑Thu May 27, 2021 5:39 pmAt times it has been and rightfully so the men warming up the crowd for the women. Dickinson got a nice win on week by week and i guess the briscoes ain't teaming anymore
Re: Random ROH Thoughts Thread
Oshay vs Sledge was decent. they both need some more work. Sledge wrapping that cord around Oshays neck looked really fake. but the heat was there in the match

It’s partially because they are being viewed as equals that it’s a bad idea. I would have zero interest in two separate men’s casino battle royales on the same show, even with different participants.AnHonorableMention wrote: ↑Thu May 27, 2021 5:26 pmIn theory the rules are the same, the participants aren't so I don't consider them the same matchfamicommander wrote: ↑Thu May 27, 2021 2:33 pmIt's not a matter of equality, it's a matter of not wanting to see multiples of the same gimmick matches in short timespans.AnHonorableMention wrote: ↑Thu May 27, 2021 1:50 pm

They're not doing that, so I'm not sure what the point is. The men have theirs Sunday, the women have theirs in September. I'm not for 2 men's TLC's and 2 women's TLC's or 2 of anything but I have no issue with men and women having the same match if it's split equally at 1.EvanKnight wrote: ↑Fri May 28, 2021 7:51 amIt’s partially because they are being viewed as equals that it’s a bad idea. Re: Random ROH Thoughts Thread
The main event if I recall from the last lockdown I saw was a war games style match. The other cage matches all had different rules. It's also TNA and nothing has ever felt special since 2006, and even then it was lesser than ROH.NewROHFan2020 wrote: ↑Thu May 27, 2021 5:41 pmIt’s stupid. Ever hear of TNA Lockdown? So let's address 1 thing first, comments like I've quoted indicate red hat syndrome or someone unwilling to change with the times.NewROHFan2020 wrote: ↑Thu May 27, 2021 5:40 pmNope. Lol. That’s funny. Little boys aren’t buying Becky Lynch or Charlotte Flair action figures, tshirts, and bed sheets. At least ones that don’t grow up to be like Sonny Kiss. So in Pro Wrestling and real sports, they definitely are not equal.
Women’s wrestling can’t stand on its own. That’s pretty much a fact. Little boys don’t grow up wanting to be like women. Only “non-traditional” ones do. Now, let's say Sonny Kiss was as good in the ring as Bryan Danielson. Sonny's not, Sonny also isn't as experienced or a main event performer. This would be equivalent in ROH to saying, I'm not here to see The Briscoes, I'm here to see Bestia Del Ring. Nobody wants to see Sonny wrestle, because Sonny isn't great. Sexual preference and color of skin have nothing to do with why you like someone. So, having said that, if Sonny was as good as Dragon or Omega, guess what people will want to see Sonny Kiss whether they're straight, gay, black, white, green, Duke Blue, purple or transgender, gender fluid, no binary, whatever.
Women's wrestling can't stand on it's own, so Shimmer, shine, and all of Japan don't exist. Let's not forget when ROH/WWN were handling Shimmer production the majority of calls yielded at that office weren't about ROH, they were about Shimmer dvds, a direct note from multiple ROH office staff. There wasn't an entire series on Netflix about the concept nor has there been multiple "reality" shows on networks that don't show wrestling about women's wrestling. Some little boys grow up playing with wrestling figures others enjoy ballet or dance class, some have a favorite wrestler who isn't traditional. The majority of 6 year olds also want to marry their mom and become batman when they grow up. Here's the deal, we're in 2021, no more labels and no more corner posting. Things are different, you can either join the rest of us vaccinated, forward thinking, inclusive folk, or be an outcast.
Oh and I also have zero interest in women's wrestling outside of AEW's women's division because Becky Lynch and Hana Kimura no longer wrestle. Therefore, I have zero bias in being a women's wrestling defender.

Triller, the new owners of Fite TV, apparently stiffed Roy Jones Jr on part of his pay for the Mike Tyson fight. They also bid almost twice as much as any other outlet to stage the Teofimo Lopez vs George Kambosos fight, then ended up having to move the show due to Mayweather's gong show Logan Paul fight. Didn't seem like a PPV quality match up to begin with.
I hope they aren't running out of money already. If Fite TV sinks that's bad for all of combat sports and pro wrestling.

Jay lethal vs brody king at best in the world
Re: Random ROH Thoughts Thread
I imagine were getting Yehi vs Gresham too.
Re: Random ROH Thoughts Thread
It certainly seems like they are setting up for Gresham vs. Yehi at Best in the World.
Brody King vs Jay Lethal should be really good.
Which makes me wonder; who's facing Rush.
Logically only a few guys could be in this spot.
Flip Gordon - seems like a good time for him to finally get his shot.
Jay Briscoe - Think the fans want to see a Rush vs Jay Briscoe match.
Matt Taven - although looks like he's still busy with The Righteous.
Bandido - Maybe he wins SOTF, and gets a title shot.
I doubt they pull the trigger on Gresham yet; as it seems likely we get him and Yehi.

SOTF ends before Best in the World?
It also looks like they are doing some Flip/EC3 feud, but maybe that wraps before PPV and it gives Flip "big win" before title challenge.

Re: Random ROH Thoughts Thread
Will Dragon Lee be back and challenging for the TV title at BITW?
With Lethal and Brody paired off, it would seem that Flip is probably in the spot for Rush at the PPV. Based on the interview, it could involve EC3 which would be a good use of him. If they go that route, I’d almost like to see it pull Jay in and be a 4-way for the belt.
Bracketing of the SOTF leads me to think Danhausen goes over Titus and banks a title shot. Danhausen/PCO vs Titus/Williams would add a little variety to the show and there is no tag team set up who should be taking a loss to the champs at the PPV.
