Observer:
Alex Shelley did a week of coaching this week at the Performance Center. This was his first time there. He had been asked in the past, and he’s been asked a few times about coming in to wrestle. Right now his mentality is he doesn’t want to sign with anyone. There is a lot he wants to do in wrestling but to achieve his current goals, he has to remain a free agent. He went back to college during the period he was gone and got his second degree, this was in Physical Therapy. His goal was to make sure he had something he could do if wrestling injuries ended his career, and also he didn’t want to have to rely on wrestling. He also studied Physical Therapy to hopefully extend his longevity as a wrestler and is working on getting a strength and conditioning certificate. Because he was gone so long, he’s back in love with wrestling

Re: ALL PURPOSE CONTRACT STATUS/POTENTIAL DEPARTURES THREAD
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter has more notes on upcoming contracts in ROH that will be expiring soon.
Marty Scurll’s deal will expire on November 30, and there are many who believe he will be headed to AEW. ROH is trying to make an offer to keep him around. There’s also interest from WWE for Scurll to appear on NXT.
Jeff Cobb and Bandido both have contracts coming up, and the biggest deal with them is that they want to work as much with NJPW as possible. It’s believed that a lot of companies have interest in Bandido, although it’s possible he ends up not signing with anyone and becomes a top independent draw, similar to Pentagon and Fenix.
Brody King’s contract is also set to expire in the next few months.

Nothing new really, everything is as has been for a while, it's just going to be up to ROH to money up and make it worth all of their time. Their are three that are must keep more than any other and will likely determine a healthy future for the company or not.
It is interesting to see Meltzer didn't add RUSH, PCO and Taylor all of whom you would think would be included in these reports considering their contract issues, or supposed ones. You also have to take into account the injuries to Bandido and Brody, that will likely extend their time in the company for a couple of months.

The thing is if these contract issues were as precarious as someone seem to think, ROH must have a lot of trust in Marty, Brody etc as they are still holder of championships in the company,
Re: ALL PURPOSE CONTRACT STATUS/POTENTIAL DEPARTURES THREAD
It's not related to ROH per-say .... but for those that don't know Jacob Fatu just signed a multi-year deal with MLW. Certainly a top free agent for this year, and major signing. A few thoughts:
- Great for MLW. As a competitor to ROH, i feel like they are putting in the work to keep talent happy and stay on board. He's a great fit there, and Contra Unit is a great faction. Sounds like he'll be able to work for other companies, but MLW will have say on his opponents/interaction. Again, great for MLW.
- MLW i'm assume made him a outstanding offer, as i have to imagine WWE/AEW/ROH came knocking.
- Maybe i'm reading more into this, but i think WWE & AEW have been spending big bucks lately, and maybe they are getting a bit gun shy on adding MORE top indy talent. In a certain way , maybe WWE is already learning from AEW by it's more about using what you have than (AEW) than buying all wrestlers (WWE). Even with AEW being perhaps being conservative on spending more on talent, seems like they had to have him on their radar, with a lack of big men. Lastly, what could this mean for ROH with many of their talent expiring? I assume if ROH knew like a Jeff Cobb was leaving, they would make an excellent offer to Fatu. In the past year, ROH has had it's eye on top MLW talent (Rush, PCO, Brody King)
On the other hand, maybe AEW/WWE is holding out for ROH's top guys. If that's the case, ROH is really going to need to strengthen it's alliances with other promotions, while growing it's roster.

MLW has really gone in hard on legacy wrestlers.
LA Park's kids, Brian Pullman Jr, Teddy Hart, Davey Boy Jr, Ross and Marshall Von Erich, Jacob Fatu, etc.

Re: ALL PURPOSE CONTRACT STATUS/POTENTIAL DEPARTURES THREAD
Observer:
The big questions regards talent whose deals are up within the next few months, most notably Marty Scurll, Brody King, Jeff Cobb and Bandido. Scurll’s deal expires on 11/30 and people have believed he was AEW bound when his deal was up from the moment AEW was formed. ROH is said to have been making a strong offer to try and keep him and there’s always WWE, because he’d be a lock to be a top star in NXT with his ready-made name to that audience. Cobb’s big thing is still wanting to work as much New Japan as possible, and Bandido is the same, but one would think everyone wants Bandido. In the case of Bandido, another option those close to him have noted to us is that he signs nowhere, with the idea he could be the top guy who is a pure indie and could work for anyone, the way Pentagon & Fenix have been
