Who would be ROH’s Garrett Kidney?
With TNA bringing in Kidney to be their digital producer, I now can’t help but question why ROH doesn’t try to bring in a parallel version for the imminent Honor Club service.
But WHO exactly would that be? Who is the perfect encyclopedia for ROH’s entire 16-year history, not just the first 9 years like me, not just the past 7 years like Sedor? Who could adequately anchor presenting the rich library for fans of recent years to actually invest their time in the early years? Who could be counted on to come up with various projects and collections? Who could on the drop of a dime, answer even the most random hardcore questions?

McXal is 2 years behind now, but that's who came to mind.

I'm pretty good with all that stuff, though in the early years a good chunk of my knowledge is of the kayfabe happening only.
Re: Who would be ROH’s Garrett Kidney?
That is massively flattering - thanks my friend!maxx_powerz wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2018 1:42 pm McXal is 2 years behind now, but that's who came to mind.
I’ll catch up one day!

AlexROH. This guy has really blossomed since he started posting. Fully invested in early years and current era. Has a very good handle on the journalistic side despite being a young guy. Scary to think he still has an upside.
Re: Who would be ROH’s Garrett Kidney?
The names that first come to mind are either Sedor or Big Red Machine, though I wish either of those two very respectable people be far away from what seems to be a very messy work culture. Personal advice: no one should should subject themselves to work at a place that advertises their goods as sold through a 'pro shop'.

What' wrong with the phrase "pro shop?" It feels no different to me than "The NHL Store."Wilson wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2018 10:17 am The names that first come to mind are either Sedor or Big Red Machine, though I wish either of those two very respectable people be far away from what seems to be a very messy work culture. Chris GST comes to mind. Sean Radican also.
I personally am not a big fan of Garret Kidney and have found him to be quite biased towards TNA at times. But hell, good job to him for getting a job with his favorite wrestling company. Now if he could make me want to watch it and not pull my eyes out of my head or make people pay to actually see their shows, he'd be 10/10 for me.

From Wikipedia's entry for pro shop. "A pro shop is a sporting-goods shop within a public or private-membership amateur sporting activities facility of some kind, most commonly a golf course, where it will typically be located in the country club building."Big Red Machine wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2018 3:28 pmWhat' wrong with the phrase "pro shop?" It should be stated that I heard the phrase from Riccaboni's lips, whose bland sportiness perhaps washes over any latent conservative aristocratic blandness, but the Sinclair link is still there, as is their knack for running in casinos and resorts.

What else would you call it? I guess "Official ROH Store" is slightly better, but it's not like there is a particularly good name out there (other than maybe "Emporium of Honor").Wilson wrote: ↑Thu Jan 18, 2018 10:34 amFrom Wikipedia's entry for pro shop. "That Place Where You Can Buy Stuff Which Has Been Officially Licensed By Ring of Honor Wrestling, LLC (A Subsidiary of the Sinclair Broadcasting Group) Online and Then They'll Mail it to Your House" has a nice ring to it.
Re: Who would be ROH’s Garrett Kidney?
Did I see someone besmirch the good name of Ian Riccaboni? The hell is that about? Dude's fantastic.
Re: Who would be ROH’s Garrett Kidney?
The ROH Shop, or the ROH Store, like every other normal wrestling company. Obviously, I wasn't trying to book around what to name their marketplace thing. My original point was that maybe working at Sinclair's ROH office has its shortcomings--there's a laundry list of that office's politics out there to disentangle. The casual reference of pro shop was just one thing that made me go, "oh, of course."Big Red Machine wrote: ↑Thu Jan 18, 2018 12:36 pm What else would you call it? And, with that, apologies to supersonic for taking this thread off the rails. Mandatory reference: to anyone unfamiliar, The Good Shit is a heck of a resource for pre-HDNet ROH. http://rohforum.site/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=798

Anything pre-2004 (mainly 2002 & 2003) is a real blind spot for me. Just haven't had the chance to go back and watch that era of the company.

Wow, thank you man! Really appreciate this, but I still have to catch up with some old stuff.Mr. Mojo Risin wrote: ↑Mon Jan 15, 2018 6:44 pm AlexROH.
