Re: The NJPW Thread
This is either the greatest work of all time or an awful piece of news. Hats off to NJPW if it's a work, best of luck to Shibata if it's real.

Re: The NJPW Thread
I said earlier that a subdural hematoma is serious fucking business and after reading about Shibata's symptoms, the guy will never be the same again. With his style, he is at risk of killing himself if he ever gets cleared to wrestle again. Its a fucking shame. Shibata is one of my favorite NJPW guys and his career was really starting to take off. We are going to look back at this years from now and wonder about a career that could have been and never will be.

I was no Shibata fan but you still hate to hear that.

Re: The NJPW Thread
Very unfortunate to hear about Shibata, but sometimes people end up learning the hard way that the human body isn't invincible. He's been really lucky in the past that he didn't get seriously hurt when doing similar headbutts in matches against Ishii & Goto, but that luck seemingly ran out in his match with Okada. A damn shame if he's forced to retire.

Observer:
They are putting some new tickets on sale for 7/1 and 7/2 for $30 each night. Tickets go on sale on 5/8 at 7 p.m. Pacific time and I suspect they’ll be gone in minutes

His best days are clearly behind him.
Okada's the ace but Naito's #2 now then Omega.

Awesome stuff today by Ricochet and Will at the BOSJ. Better than their last year's encounter. Methodical match, with a slower tempo and more selling. They worked hard and every flip made sense and felt like a strong move. Very, very good match ****1/4.

I kind of annoyed that they buried Liger like this after announcing that it was his last BOSJ. They did the same thing to Tenzan last year. Why even make the announcement if you're not going to build a story around it?

Re: The NJPW Thread
I am wondering if NJPW/Bushiroad and ROH/Sinclair have had talks about syndicating NJPW's English TV show. Meltzer reported recently that NJPW was looking to syndicate, and Sinclair seems like a natural partner.
Imagine a two hour block of ROH and NJPW on all the outlets airing ROH, plus whatever new ones come out of the Sinclair/Tribune buyout.

Became Liger was 80's.
We don't want a storyline saying because he is exhausted.

Exactly. Making this into a storyline just makes Liger look like a sad old man who should have retired long ago. He should go out as a hero, not as a failure.ICHIFUJI wrote:Liger is aged 50.Big Red Machine wrote:I kind of annoyed that they buried Liger like this after announcing that it was his last BOSJ. Re: The NJPW Thread
Can someone please explain to me why the Suzuki-Gun Jr. Heavyweights decided to pick sides and then hit each other with chairs and then they're one big happy family again the next day? If this had happened in any other company in the world people would be sh*tting all over it. Gedo knows how to protect his stars and he definitely has something of an eye for talent, but in terms of actually telling any sort of story, he's a REALLY sh*tty booker.

I thought they were doing some of the G1 Climax at these shows? When did that change?

Re: The NJPW Thread
No, it was never the plan to do G1 matches there. That's why it's called G1 Special in USA, it's just special exhibition shows
