So, do you enjoy seeing big fat dudes ramming into each other ? Well I do and yeah, I like things sometimes.

Right now is the Hatsu Basho and two days have gone so far (out of 15).

gdi.

So #TheLoneMan is your account on sumoforum dot net, right?

P.S. I really appreciate this thread being created. I have at least half a mind of stickying it. I know jack-all about sumo, and right now is the best time for me to divert my attention from U.S. pro wrestling.

I am digging this. Same as Wilson, I don't know shit about sumo wrestling other than Yokozuna portraying one and John Tenta was one.

Day 4

First match is a juryo bout (second division) and that Ura guy is something else for sure.
Terunofuji continues to look like utter shit and desperately needs to take some time off to heal.
Two kinboshi in three days for Mitakeumi, good for him.

Day 6

Business is picking up with the yusho race becoming a lot clearer and Kotoshougiku on his way to be demoted to sekiwake if he doesn't get his shit together.

Day 7

Things don't look too good for my boy Oosunaraashi who's 3-4 after a 3-0 start.
After winning last year, Kotoshougiku is pretty much fucked at this point. The guy has to go 6-2 to save his ozeki rank, but must face the other ozeki and yokozuna to do so.
After Tochinoshin yesterday, Harumafuji is now out injured.
Kisenosato and Hakuho still on top with a completely random trio of maegashira right behind them at 6-1.

Day 8

Kotoshougiku is now two losses away from demotion.
BWAHAHA, what a loss for Hakuho !!!
Kisenosato is now the leader with a perfect 8-0 with Soukokurai, Takanoiwa and Hakuho at 7-1.

Day 9

Not much to say from the undercard. The only thing worth mentionning is that Takanoiwa is now the only maegashira at 8-1.
Terunofuji still looks shaky as fuck and on his way to be kadoban for the next basho... once again.
Aaaand Kisenosato loses to Kotoshougiku. He still needs five more wins to erase his kadoban status though.
OH MAN, WHAT'S HAPPENING TODAY ? #LOLHakuhoWins is obliterated in seconds by Takayasu.
We finish this crazy day with Ikioi beating Kakuryu because why the hell not.

Day 10

Man, that's some lame duck undercard if I ever saw one. Takanoiwa lost and is now 8-2.
Terunofuji didn't look that bad today, but still lost and is now two losses away from kadoban.
Speaking of kadoban, Kotoshougiku must go 5-0 to keep his ozeki rank now.
Back to Kisenosato in the lead with four rikishi at 8-2.

Day 11

Ura basically winning with a spear was fun.
Nice hard-hitting win for Hokutofuji.
Kotoshougiku with the freebie today. Four more wins to keep his ozeki rank.
Meanwhile, Terunofuji is one loss away to be kadoban at the next basho.
No change at the top today.

Day 12

Terunofuji will be kadoban next basho. It's been a full year of going kadoban one basho, saving his ozeki rank next with a meager 8-7, then back to kadoban and lather, rinse, repeat.
Back to sekiwake for Kotoshougiku.
One maegashira down and still three rikishi behind Kisenosato.

Day 13

Not a whole lot to say today. Kisenosato is still the leader at 12-1, followed by Hakuho at 11-2, then four rikishi at 10-3 who are still in the yusho race.

It really isn't that bad compared to when I first watched sumo in the mid 90's.

Day 15

Kisenosato solidified his yusho win by beating Hakuho and will be promoted to yokozuna apparently, which is slightly rushed if you ask me.

Some predictions coming up when I finally get the full results and rankings of the basho.

Predictions for the next basho.

Yokozuna

Kisenosato (east)
Hakuho (west)
Kakuryu (east 2)
Harumafuji (west 2)

Ozeki

Goeido (east)
Terunofuji (west) - kadoban, must go 8-7 at the very least to keep his rank

Easy so far, but things get tricky.

Sekiwake

Takayasu should be there after a solid 11-4 as komusubi. Mitakeumi could also be there with the same record at maegashira 1, but I think they'll give him the komusubi east spot to not overcrowd the san'yaku ranks.

Takayasu (east)
Tamawashi (west)
Kotoshogiku (east 2) - must go 10-5 or higher to regain his ozeki status

Komusubi

Hard to tell who's going to be with Mitakeumi. Shodai with a 7-8 at sekiwake could be relegated there, veteran Takekaze seems more likely after a 10-5 at maegashira 5 and even with an impressive 12-3 this basho, Sokokurai feels like a reach because he was only maegashira 10.

Mitakeumi (east)
Takekaze (west)

Relegated to juryo

Chiyootori (6-9 at M14)
Chiyotairyu (6-9 at M14)
Gagamaru (5-10 at M13)
Osunaarashi (4-11 at M16)

Hum, I guess my last post disappeared after whatever is happening here.

Anyway, here's the banzuke for the Haru basho. Pretty much what I was expecting outside of Shodai keeping a sanyaku spot and Takekaze at M1E.

First day : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hK5UfnBNQmQ&t=615s

First few days are always a bit eh and outside of two of the four yokozuna losing, this was pretty much it. Looks like I'll get to follow my boy Osunaarashi's progress in juryo this basho, so that's good.
