09/28/2020: Return of Podcast of Honor

Post by cgstong »

Hey everyone,

This will be a dedicated thread for questions for the upcoming ROHCast / Podcast of Honor
If you have any questions post them in here, we'll get through as many as we can and some will be left for future episodes. But this is part of the interactivity I want from the forum.

09/28/2020

Hey everyone! The Podcast of Honor is going to return, and I am working on getting some video projects on the way to our Youtube channel.
I'll be posting a date and we'll ask for some questions!

I'll leave comments as place holders so you all can see when a new podcast is being recorded and what questions will be answered.

I was wondering what the pros/cons of either Adam Cole retaining or Kyle O'Reilly winning at Final Battle. I think this can be a pertinent question with out it devolving into a booking debate free for all.

- Is Cody Rhodes necessary in ROH? Talk about your thoughts on his work in the independents and if he would benefit de ROH product this comming year (if you want him to leave or stay)
- Is this ROH's best PPV card ever (just counting the tradicional format PPVs since BITW '14)?
- Will ROH finally gets Silas a big push after Final Battle? I mean, a World TV Title run or something like that and If you think that the regular presence of Ospreay and Scurll will affect him in a negative way.

- Discuss the 'hot shotting' of the TV title that is drawing some criticism online. My views align with Meltzer and Lanza, that it's a great booking tool to get both guys established and over in their home country, doing minimal damage to Fish. The 4 way is going to be amazing.

- Where the fuck is Chris Hero and why hasn't ROH signed the guy in what is probably his best in ring year ever? Or have they tried but he just wants to do his thing on the indies?

- Analyze the possible January departures (plus Cole in April).

Perhaps also consider to register an email account for mailbag questions? Likely, there are people that could want to ask questions but would not prefer to register an account.
  • Do you expect a “Bullet Club implosion” story soon (due to contracts)?
  • Who is winning the old guy tournament on 12/4?
  • If Corino leaves, would ROH hire a new commentator or do you think they would try to just use McGuiness or Riccaboni?
  • What do you think of Taven’s Kingdom? Does the trios division seem to have legs to you?

. If Kyle does win is he the right guy to lead ROH into the new year or if everyone is staying put for now will the title become secondary due to other talent and story lines.

. Do you think we will see any surprise debuts at Final Battle or will we simply be treated to having titles switched as the main surprise or draw of the show.

. Do you think we will see another TV title change or will Marty be the guy to keep the title and take it to a new level from hear. if Marty is that who do you think will be his main opponents throughout his first few months.

. Does ROH use it's hour of TV time well now or can the time be used in a better way wether by having better quality of match or more backstage, segment orientated moments.

Just wanted to say that you had a good show guys, you went over a lot of ground and it was covered well especially with the amount of time you had available. Having the amount of guys you have is great as it opens up a lot of different paths of ideas and discussions and I do find limiting yourself to just one guy or even two at times can be rather limiting as quite often the same ideas will be shared. I liked the personal nature or less formal platform of the show, although and this might happen later on in other podcasts a bit more depth and seriousness in certain aspects of booking or story line would be great but again that's just me.

My only real negative comment would be the drop out of certain guys that occurred but that's the nature of the situation which I can understand and deal with.

Appreciate the feedback. There are certainly moments that we take more seriously than others but also we have been podcasting together (Ari, Miccio, and myself) for years. I want to say close to five now with Rich being added in earlier this year so sometimes we are just so familiar with each other that it turns into banter. I personally feel it also reflects on how much the product has grabbed us or how much it's lacking in feeling like something to take seriously sometimes depending on the feud. So if we take something lightly, it's because it hasn't hit us that it's serious, doesn't mean it's not good just means we don't feel it in that manner. Some of our past podcasts you should check out such as our ROH retrocasts where we take a look back at past shows and I think you'll hear our different perspectives and more "serious" tones.

In terms of Ari dropping out, that's just the internet. He was having issues early on and I was just glad it didn't happen until near the end of the show.

First time listener: I think you guys do a fine job.

I listen to a more than a few podcasts, each to distinct levels of production, and I do appreciate banter that diverts from over-produced shows. The balance you folks meet is pretty much the tone I prefer to hear for a subject like ROH. Moderator-approved!

Oh I completely understand the nature of how you guys work together and If it wasn't really said I enjoyed the informal nature of the podcast and the round table style you have, it works well especially when discussing wrestling. I agree that I think it points more to the booking of the show in general, it would interesting to see what you guys did with Death Before Dishonor and ASE this year as both had strongly booked and serious natures to their shows.

Yeah no worries on that, I thought that was the case.

We most certainly had shows on them.
I believe we thought DBD was one of the best PPVs. yeah here's our review of it http://www.pwponderings.com/2016/08/21/ ... iv-review/

And here is ASE;s
http://www.pwponderings.com/2016/10/10/ ... -8-review/

Again thanks on the feedback and I want the good and the bad :) Been doing this long enough to know we ain't perfect and still trying to be better and not always "right" as wrestling is always subjective.

Having listened to the DBD review I felt this certainly matched what I meant from a possible lack of depth and seriousness to the previous show I had listened to. It was a very good review overall and (baring in mind I haven't seen Final Battle) certainly matched my opinion on the show as overall it was my favourite spotlighted show in a good long time and for ,e matched the ROH of old or close enough to.

For sure man. Glad you enjoyed it (I think that's what you're saying). You'll like this FB review we're recording right now. Some pretty deep rooted conversation and debate on certain matches.

I certainly did enjoy it man, everyone was really on point and showed a great knowledge and opinion on all the matches involved.

Sounds great man, from what I have heard it sounds like Final Battle certainly gave you guys enough to really get your teeth into. It will be interesting to see your opinions on the main event as well Cody's debut.
