Official 'Final Battle 2017 Aftermath' TV Tapings Thread (12.16.17)

Post by TYFDK »

Last ones for the year, and last ones until over a month in Nashville.

MATCHES

Triple Threat Tag Team Match
Titan & Dragon Lee vs. Best Friends vs. Young Bucks
Image
Philadelphia has become Best Friends most-successful city in Ring of Honor. The 2300 Arena was the site of the shocking debut of Chuckie T. In his first ROH bout, Taylor pinned Matt Jackson, then one-half of the ROH World Tag Team Champions. Since, Beretta and Chuckie T. have picked up a number of big wins, including earning the number one contendership in Philly in a match recently seen on ROH Television.

The duo heads to Final Battle and into Philly after their first tour of Japan and after securing a winning record in World Tag League. No matter the result of the Final Battle bout, Best Friends has yet another marquee match-up on their slate!

The duo will take on long-time foes The Young Bucks and the thrilling CMLL duo of CMLL World Lightweight Champion Dragon Lee and Titan! The Young Bucks are two-thirds of the ROH World Six Man Tag Team Champions with Adam Page and will take on Dragon Lee and Titan just one night prior when they defend their championships against Lee, Titan, and Flip Gordon. The two teams have met before, with the Young Bucks defeating them at New Japan’s Power Struggle in November.

This triple threat match will see three of the most exciting and talked about teams in the world do battle and – dependent on the Final Battle results – this could be for the ROH World Tag Team Championships! Who will leave Philly victorious?
Marty Scurll vs. Flip Gordon
Image
Gordon has been a target of Bullet Club since joining Ring of Honor. In the City of Brotherly Love, Gordon looks to continue his quest for payback over a man looking to close out 2017 the way he started it, “The Villain” Marty Scurll!

Scurll defeated “The Aerial Assassin” Will Ospreay to capture the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship at Power Struggle, a familiar foe he had defeated one year prior to kick off a dominant reign as ROH World Television Champion that extended into 2017. Scurll defeated stars like Lio Rush, Donovan Dijak, Adam Cole, and others as World Television Champion, launching himself as an instant star before joining Bullet Club!

Scurll has been on a major roll as of late, as well, beating the likes of Chuckie T., Jay White, Hiromu Takahashi, Beer City Bruiser, and Josh Woods in ROH competition. Gordon is getting Scurll at his best and, while this is a non-title bout, Gordon would not only gain a measure of revenge with a win but also put himself firmly in the hunt for the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship!

These two do battle for the first time in Philadelphia. Who will walk out victorious?
If Coast 2 Coast Lose They Will Disband
Coast 2 Coast vs. War Machine
Image
While Coast 2 Coast has kept up with all of the top teams in ROH, they have yet to secure a victory on ROH Television. They have grown frustrated as the losses mount, continuously winning Future of Honor matches to keep them in the eye of the ROH Board of Directors but losing on television. Ali and LSG have grown frustrated with losing and frustrated with one another and they are pushing all of their chips on the table in Ali’s hometown, Philadelphia when they face their biggest test, yet.

Literally.

War Machine heads to Philly one night removed from their bout with The Addiction at Final Battle and just under a week after the conclusion of an incredible successful appearance in the World Tag League where the duo went 5-2 in their block, with wins over Best Friends, Killer Elite Squad, among others. Warbeard Hanson and Ray Rowe are at the top of their game and are a team that nobody wants to face right now, a fact that makes Coast 2 Coast’s road ahead that much more difficult.

Coast 2 Coast may need a miracle to pick up a victory over the former ROH World Tag Team Champions. But, in a town where Rocky Balboa proved he could last 15 rounds with the champ and the 1993 Phillies went from worst to first, Coast 2 Coast is focused and determined to pick up the biggest win of their career.

Can Coast 2 Coast do the unthinkable or will War Machine end Coast 2 Coast on their quest to their second reign as ROH World Tag Team Champions?

I definitely see the Addiction getting involved. I can't see what Shaheem or LSG would be doing as singles in 2018. As a team they can rise up and keep trying to steal the show.

To cause some speculation, Joey Ryan tweeted from Pennsylvania earlier about the snow, so it's possible we could see some of him during the tapings, as I don't think he has any announced gigs for the 16th.

Milonas w/ Bruiser and Silas isn't a bad call. He's not lighting the world on fire, but for a big man he's pretty inoffensive. Plus, looks like we might have our trio team that the latter two have been talking about.

"Inoffensive" should not be nearly enough to get you booked in ROH, and as for Silas and the Bruiser finally getting a third guy... it's been over a year since they first started looking for a third guy, and every prospect they've had, Milonas included, has been a bottom of the barrel scrub, or Minoru Suzuki, who no one thought they had a snowball's chance of winning with. A this point I wouldn't give a sh*t about that story if it was an established ROH midcarder. Give me a loser like Milonas and it actively offends me.
And why the hell would Delirious suddenly pick now to finally give them a third guy when they need it less than they've ever needed it before because Silas just won the TV Title?
