It feels the same to me. The only thing that may be different is the wrestlers seem to have a little bit more passion since Cornette's been gone but the creative direction feels exactly the same.

ROH fanbase will diminish to the size of this forum if they don't start to change.

Yes they were spot monkeys but they were very young (Swann was 20 and Fox was 22 I believe) and very green wrestlers that obviously had great athleticism and were charismatic and Gabe knew all they needed was a place to improve and get better. What happened in his past?
DieHard wrote:And aren't you the same one who said "why ROH should sign that aren't great right now" ?
What I said was there are guys right now that are good that they are not using well (ACH, Adam Page) and they're bringing in and pushing worse guys (TD Thomas, QT Marshall) that aren't necessarily younger or have better futures. Adam Page is 21 and I've been saying he should be signed to a contract and he's definitely a guy that needs to work on things but you can see the potential and enthusiasm in him and he just needs the experience to get better. Thomas and Marshall don't have that potential and sure they'll get better eventually but why build up those guys who will never make it past the midcard instead of a guy like Adam Page who has main event potential.

Oh well... it is what it is.
Steen can't have non-title matches

It´s funny the negativity here, i am glad this is only a minority of the fanbase.

The tapings looks fine, Hardy/Cole and Lethal/Steen are not things that Delirious booked and he is trying to take them out quickly, i am fine with that.

Top prospect looks fine, i would like to see ACH and Adam Page advance but the important in those type of tournament is make a good impresion and i read their matches deliver.

Adam Cole vs BJ Withmer and Michael Elgin were great acording to the fans in the show, i am also looking foward to see the 8-man Tag and the Gauntlet.

Matt Hardy over Titus makes sense because Hardy is wrestling Withmer in the next shows and add heat to that match, i don´t understand all the drama with Titus, they tried to push him last year and he doesn´t deliver at all, now he have to wait his turn.

While the tapings on paper don't look very interesting, I'll wait until I see it on TV to slate it.

It will take Delirious a while to really stamp his mark on the creative direction (if indeed he has total control like we are led to believe). He has to follow up on things started by Cornette so I wouldn't judge him just yet.

Thoughts:

- The Steen/Lethal thing sounds quite stupid. After all that drama Lethal just basically dares him and Steen agrees to a match. On the plus side, I now think Lethal is not winning the belt.

- It's fine that Matt Hardy beat Rhett Titus. Rhett Titus is bad right now and shows no signs of being anything. The Hardy ROH character and angle is working more or less exactly as intended. In the end, Cole will beat him.

- Tadarius Thomas isn't good. Flips and kicks alone do not a good wrestler make.

- I can't believe Seltzer is on color again. There are so many better options. Nigel was 10x better. It's absurd he was removed because it was felt his accent was a problem. Corino is also far better. We don't need a broadcast team consisting of Kevin Kelly and a Less Skilled Kevin Kelly.

- I hope Charlie Haas and Jay Briscoe get big singles pushes this year. Not against each other, though.

- I like the Truth Martini angle with the Top Prospect Tournament.

- The idea that Cornette is responsible for EVERYTHING bad and Delirious is responsible for EVERYTHING good is really silly.

- I hope than Mike Mondo, one of the worst babyfaces I've ever seen, is turned heel soon after returning. As far as babyfaces go, he is worse than yapping AJ Styles, and worse than slobbering Abyss. He's not quite as bad as crying Tommy Dreamer or crying Samoa Joe. He's ballpark as bad as DILLIGAF Shannon Moore or whatever Brian Kendrick was doing in that last TNA run.

I was wondering that myself. I think he came across well on commentary. This Caleb dude is horrendously annoying to me. A sampling of his food obsession was evident at Final Battle: "Eat a turnbuckle", "eat a bicycle", "eat a submission". Someone should have fed that dude before the show got started. Also, "Insider's Edge"---that was the name of a move on WWF No Mercy: no one really calls it that.

I suppose I will be watching the next round of television shows with the volume turned down unless they dub over some good commentary. Keeping him around will really hurt my enjoyment of the show.

Meltzer reported it in the Observer. It's really too bad because the babyface commissioner character has no legs at all and I can't see it lasting more than 6-8 months.

I've been an Observer subscriber over the years (quit when it started becoming "MMA Observer and some wrestling too" about five years ago), and I can safely write that it seems to me that Meltzer will sometimes print his opinion about why something happened and portray it as fact. Unless something specific is cited, I'd imagine this to be the case here. No one in their right minds would imagine Caleb Seltzer with his American accent would be better suited to commentary than Nigel; Nigel talks like he knows the job and Seltzer repeatedly tells you what guys are eating in the ring.

So why DID they take Nigel out of the booth?

Meltzer said this, specifically:
With McGuinness now as the public authority figure, he’s been removed as an announcer, which is a major mistake because he was outstanding in getting over the big matches on the previous show. He was replaced by Caleb Seltzer, who had started at the most recent television taping in suburban Pittsburgh. Several different people said those in management felt his British accent was a negative on commentary. I absolutely dumbfounded by that since McGuinness had rapidly improved in the role and on the previous iPPV, he had a blow away performance in that role and was easily, and that includes William Regal and JBL, the best color guy in the business because he got the match over and the participants over better than anyone. Unlike JBL, who I do find entertaining, McGuinness was never out there trying to get himself over.
Nobody in their right mind would do a LOT of things ROH has done in the past 20 months.

Why do so many people just except ROH nowadays? It sucks big time and i've been a fan since 07' own over 200 DVD's and have been to about 15 Live shows 3 IPPV's and used to love every thing about this promotion. IMO the Pearce era was even better then this Cornette/Delirious era. I am still not convinced Corny don't have his hand in creative. And i really think they are trying to pull a work over on the fans that have been so negative towards him over the last year and a half.

I don't see the logic here because Nigel was getting more TV time than anyone lately plus Caleb as people said here has an accent too.

That is absolutely absurb? Nigel was if not was THE BEST ON COMMENTARY!! I saw the emotion Nigel had when he called matches. He would make me get even more involved because of how emotionally involved he was. And to say his accent was a problem is rediculous...I could understand him why couldn't anyone else? please don't think for 1 second Cornette you know what's best for the business when you don't have a clue. His british accent was negative piss off Cornette just go away from wrestling please. You take all that's good in ROH and replace with complete trash. And that Caleb guy whoever he is sucks. The only way to make me NOT hate Kevin kelly was having Nigel there. But now I like Kelly more than this new guy god he's aweful over the top trying to be Vince mcmahon on commentary is atrocious....

You know, it's entirely possible this is simply an excuse and the real reason is that they wanted to cut costs by not paying to bring him in for every show. He does live in California like the other "cost cut casualties", The Young Bucks and TJ Perkins.
