MVP of 2011?
Every year we had this discussion on the old ROH board, so.......
Who was the MVP of 2011?
Who was the MVP of 2011?

Eddie Edwards, no doubt about it
Re: MVP of 2011?
4 years ago, who would've thought Eddie Edwards would be getting called an ROH MVP?

Eddie for sure. If I could pick a tag team it would have to be The Briscoes, great matches as usual and some of the most entertaining promos I've seen in a long time.

Re: MVP of 2011?
Even though Davey's title win was a fantastic moment, not just for him but in company history, I think Eddie has been the stand out guy in 2011.
I can't remember a match of his that I didn't enjoy and he's improved so much.

Re: MVP of 2011?
I'd agree with Eddie - but as WrestlingMatters said, the Briscoes need to be mentioned here too. They've been around for a long time but the way they've freshened up their act and helped carry the ROH product through this year has been an invaluable contribution too.
There's an argument to suggest Kevin Steen for this too. Granted he's not been around that much, but has anyone drawn more heat or more interest in the ROH product than Steen this year?

I'd definitely go with Edwards for wrestler of the year.
Honorable mentions go to WGTT for monetary value and Corino for his awesome character work.

Roderick Strong is MVP, he makes the guys you named look good! Ric Flair was always the MVP of WCW and he lose a lot of matches for the good of the company. Now if your just talking improvement and win records then Eddie!

Re: MVP of 2011?
I'd have to go with Edwards as well no doubt one day down the line he will become ROH's 2nd two time world Champion. Love seeing the Briscoes getting some love once again there are always awesome. It's un fair they have been around so long..they should be making big bucks on T.V and wrestling on the biggest stage.
Re: MVP of 2011?
I think WGTT's value has gone way down since they took the belts.

A tie between Eddie Edwards and Roderick Strong
Re: MVP of 2011?
Can you explain that about Roderick? He wasn't really that important of a champion and once he lost the belt, he just went on a long streak of losses and only had a minor feud with Generico. For the last 6 months, all he's done is be loosely involved in the Davey/Eddie rivalry.Nikk wrote:A tie between Eddie Edwards and Roderick Strong

In my opinion Roderick hasen't had not one bad match in ROH this year.I have enjoyed every single match of his this year. Also I dont think his promo skills has been as bad as it was in the past.Im sure no one expected Roderick to hold the belt yet he held on to it for 6 months.Marketh. wrote:Can you explain that about Roderick? Re: MVP of 2011?
Just so we have the list, is it:
2002: Low-Ki
2003: Homicide
2004: Punk (or is it Joe?)
2005: Strong
2006: Dragon
2007: Briscoes
2008: Nigel
2009: I didn't watch much this year. Black?
2010: Who got the award for this year? Steen/Generico was my favorite feud, but Davey, Black, the Kings, and the Briscoes were all great.
