We've seen a Jim cornette version of ROH and it involved him thinking Kevin Steen wasn't good enough but the Headbangers in hoods were. He did well with certain things but he brought the base of ROH lower than it is now and that was even without the competition it would face today.

Cornette’s problem in ROH is that it was ROH-a promotion with an established fanbase who knows what they like. Can’t come in and say Steen and Generico aren’t a top program when the fans are loving every minute of it. While guys like Russo and Cornette are somewhat correct in the fact that wrestling needs to grow and attract new fans, you can’t try to change the product to accomplish this when you already have an established fanbase to satisfy. All you do is turn them off without really getting the chance to attract new fans.
Has happened over and over in wrestling-Russo in WCW, Hogan and Bischoff in TNA, Cornette in ROH, to an extent Bully Ray in ROH though they’ve slowed it down since G1.

You want to come in and try something new, do it with a new promotion.
