I think I'm pretty lenient when it comes to the current booking, talent, etc compared to others on here. But this sounds pretty lame. At least the Survival of the Fittest has a fairly unique format compared to other American tournaments. This sounds like a lazy King of the Ring knockoff tbh.

Eh I think it's harmless. Small little tournament, maybe even have a trophy. Might not mean much in the long run, but should be a fine show for what it is.

We already have the following in the tournament:

- Jay Lethal
- Christopher Daniels
- Dalton Castle

Which leaves 5 spots open. And then of course non-tournament matches as well. So it obviously won't be Survival of the Fittest-like, especially if it's the next month, but a small little precursor at a casino that's so far away from anything really, one has to wonder if they didn't just pay ROH to have a show there.

Wow. I didn't notice that the closest major city, Flint (pop. 98,000), is an hour and a half away from Mt. Pleasant. (I'm also skeptical of how Sinclair gets these obscure ins regarding privately owned venues. Feels like we're not far from seeing these return to elk lodges or country clubs.)

The tournament itself probably suits the company better today than Survival of the Fittest, considering the roster and the booker. Delirious has pretty much gone 0-3 in worthwhile SOTF tournaments, so I don't see the harm in tinkering with the format. It will be interesting to see if ROH is aggressive in setting a specific tone or bar for this cup.

I'm a sucker for tournaments as far back as the Crockett Cup and the vastly underrated WWF Wrestling Classic (Dynamite Kid was just fucking unbelievable in that thing as well as The Macho Man). With the G1, Super Juniors, etc., in NJPW, I don't mind ROH throwing another tournament out there. I just hope Delirious follows through with this and make it worth something in the end.

I thought both nights of Survival of the Fittest 2015 were really good fwiw.

I remember when the Sinclair shows first started, they'd air commercials stating you could book ROH for birthday parties and corporate events, so maybe!

Yeah. The name immediately made me suspicious that this is a bought show, which I guess is a good thing for ROH because they're guaranteed to come out making money.

This would be a good feather in Jay White's cap to send him back to NJPW on and possibly keep the door open to use him more after he goes back.

I immediately thought the same thing when I saw that "Soaring Eagle" was the name of the casino they're running.

Tournaments are sweet. Especially if we see some of the new guys on the roster get the chance to mix it up with the veterans.

TV advertising here in Michigan indicates that Cody is also in the tournament. Take that FWIW, as they also advertise a ROH Tag Team Title defense from The Bucks yet only Nick Jackson is advertised in what they have posted and promoted in print. Nick could easily be in the tournament if he is a solo Buck for the night.

For an event that tickets are being sold outside of the regular ROH avenues (Ringside member pre-sale, ROH Website), I looked a few days ago and tickets in the first 4-5 ringside rows seemed to have already sold. With that, you have about 200+ tickets sold in less than a week.

The ticket prices are also lower than the traditional ROH costs per seat. I saw you could get a GA seat for $5. If I knew more about the venue, I would think that would be a steal of a deal.

I'm sorry I didn't see this when I posted. Soaring eagle casino isn't so much a casino as it's a attraction now. They have a indoor water park and to also a college town with central Michigan university their too. I personally have not been up their in a few years but I have heard that the building can hold a couple thousand for concerts and their is stadium seating. Here in Michigan Indian casinos are sprouting up everywhere so it's gotten hard for them too get people up their. It is pretty centrally located in the state being it's basically a hour an a half drive from almost every large city and it's right off the major north south highway. I was hoping to go but my plans fell through

I was down on this show when it was announced, but considering what a piss poor job they have done at building actual ROH talent as challengers for Cody since he won the belt, someone beating him in a non title singles match would at least be something.

And between that and the winner of the tournament, that could be two challengers created in one night.
