Re: Honor Rising 2017
Both night live by NJPWWORLD with English commentary.
Re: Honor Rising 2017
I like the cards for both shows with the exception of Cole's title defense on night 2
Re: Honor Rising 2017
Cole's defense makes sense because HASHI pinned Cole At New Year Dash. Plus, HASHI is a pretty good wrestler.

Very interesting that Martinez is the one getting a NEVER Title shot and teaming with Los ingobernables...

Re: Honor Rising 2017
Interesting cards. I love that we're getting a random defense of the NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Titles. That's the whole point of those titles. War Machine vs. Young Bucks & The Briscoes vs. Adam Cole & Kenny Omega on Night 1 both sound great. There's also that tag with Jay Lethal & Shibata vs. Cody & Adam Page (hopefully this checks Shibata off Cody's list).
The NEVER Title defense on Night 2 is an odd one, but maybe New Japan is interested in Martinez. Adam Cole vs. YOSHI-HASHI should be pretty good. Honestly, the only other complaint I have is that Silas Young feels a bit wasted on this shows.

I knew HASHI got the fall on Cole.....I'm just not a fan of it. I find HASHI to be incredibly boring.AlexROH wrote:Cole's defense makes sense because HASHI pinned Cole At New Year Dash. Plus, HASHI is a pretty good wrestler.

Okay card If there was anytime to put cheeseburger on a card this would be it since he is a draw in Japan. I can't wait until this Lethal cody fued ends, I rather see Lethal vs tanahashi against each other than tagging up.

Yep. That is the first thing that stood out to me too. That's a rather high profile slot to put him in. Good for him though. I like Martinez and hope this is not just something that is for this tour.King of Indy Style wrote:Very interesting that Martinez is the one getting a NEVER Title shot and teaming with Los ingobernables...
Re: Official ROH/NJPW Honor Rising 2017 Thread
Martinez seems to be so much better than the fetters of Sullivan/EVIL allowed him to be.
It might seem somewhat revisionist of me to say but he fits better as ROH's standard style of big man than either Moose and Dijak. Hopefully he can get heat again and start actually making progress.

I think Moose got crapped on for a variety of reasons. He was and still is really green in many ways, but at times shows real flashes of promise for a guy his size. Definitely has some work to do establishing his character.
Dijak was much more polished in the ring. I think he was trying to find himself creatively from a character standpoint. I think once he does that, the sky is the limit for Dijak. He can do really well for himself one day in Stamford.
I don't think I have seen enough of a sampling size on Martinez yet to really cast judgement. I have only seen him live once, and a few times otherwise.
Time will tell.

I agree with your assessment of Dijak. The problem wasn't him...it was the booking. He kept getting thrown around like lube at a porno convention. Martini...Nana...MCMG, the guy had no opportunity to shine on his own. The best promo he cuts is on his way out the door. Go figure.Brada wrote:I think Moose got crapped on for a variety of reasons. Official poster for the tour:
Re: Official ROH/NJPW Honor Rising 2017 Thread
No Bobby Fish on the tour? That stinks.
they left the next world champ off the poster. Why isn't Castle on the poster?

Takahashi is wrestling twice on Night 2? I don't see him teaming with Juice Robinson. That must be a mistake? Should be Tanahashi I guess?AlexROH wrote: Night 2 (27th February)
