ROH & NJPW shows in 2017

If talent isn't choosing NJPW over ROH regurly or say for example if both are running at the same time, then the only real affect it could have is on crowd numbers but this will be the same for every company really who is running close to or on the date of NJPW events.

I do think both NJPW/ROH need to go all in with this relationship and really create story lines involving each other, mainly so ROH TV actually means something rather than the waste of space it generally is after both tours of the respected countries. The best thing would just simply create dream cards and maybe have less dates during the combined groups tour in the states.

The relationship has never been stronger. But it is ROH's to mess up. Is the best answer to give.

The most interesting thing will be if both companies run the same night in the US. New Japan contractually has first refusal on a percentage of dates with some of ROH's regular talent.

Well why wouldn't the NJPW / ROH relationship be stronger than ever? . NJPW offers an amazing groups of talents that ROH can book as special attractions. ROH 's partnership with NJPW gives them exposure to new fans and create additional revenues for the company. Also contracted ROH talent gets booking fron NJPW , CMLL and now Rev Pro.

NJPW gets more revenue , access to more North American talent and more North American exposure for their brand , Since , NJPW is playing the long game , partnering with Sinclair gives their product exposure more than 50% of the USA. If , SBGI ever converts the Tennis Channel to an All Sports network , NJPW could get a slot on that platform. I know NJPW has a small cable deal , but SBGI has more to offer in the long run.

NJPW is a very smart player. They know that McMahon's goal is not to partner with anyone. The WWE just wants NJPW out of the business ASAP . All Jeff Jarrett had to offer has a closet full of gimmick guitars . The NJPW/ CMLL/ROH / Rev Pro alliance is really a no brainer for all of the promotions.

1. Because ROH runs 50+ shows a year in front of an average of ~1,000 fans. Even if NJPW's shows in the US are a huge hit it will probably take years to reach that sort of exposure, especially considering ROH's stronghold is in the Northeastern US and NJPW is starting out in the Southwestern US. NJPW is putting their wrestlers in front of more fans in more places than they could alone.

2. Because ROH TV is much more popular than NJPW on AXS. According the the press release AXS sent out when they renewed the show, NJPW gets about 200,000 viewers per week. According to the Observer May 2015, ROH TV was getting over 450,000 per week on Sinclair stations alone. That doesn't include rohwrestling.com viewers, nor any viewers on the new outlets carrying ROH TV (new Sinclair affiliates, Comet TV, Fite TV, NESN, etc).

3. Both companies have relationships with CMLL

4. The companies working together still have the ability to pay talent like the Young Bucks more than either would individually, which should help them hold onto stars and keep them from jumping to WWE

5. ROH TV now airs in Canada, Portugal, and worldwide via the Fite TV app/ROHwrestling.com. That's a lot of free international exposure.

6. ROH plugs NJPWWorld.com and NJPW on AXS on their PPVs and sometimes TV

It's essentially free exposure for NJPW. There aren't any negatives unless/until they start running shows on the same dates that create booking conflicts for shared talent.

Some seem to think that ROH take from New Japan but New Japan gets nothing back. That is so far from the reality of the relationship. It really is a two way street, sure New Japan has the leverage because if they don't want their guys working for ROH, they won't, and ROH will have to go back to using NOAH guys that have a quarter of the appeal the New Japan guys do, but ROH still does a lot for New Japan and has helped expose it to even more US audiences than it previously had.

Life is too short fellas for negativity. This isn't a contest to see who knows more, who can one up each other, this is supposed to be a place for conversation and entertainment.

I think this whole "state of the relationship" issue is going to depend on how well New Japan does on these "G1 preview" shows and if they successfully move forward with a territory on the West Coast. In particular, if the latter succeeds, it'll be very interesting because Kidani stated in an interview recently that a potential US Territory on the West Coast would be 75% North American talent. However, that is at least a year off, and we really don't even know if a New Japan territory in the US will truly be successful. Plus, there's been fears (by some) that Kidani might be going down the same road as Jim Crockett Jr. did, if WWE takes notice. It's honestly hard to say, but time will ultimately tell.
