When I first joined, one of the first topics I started was "Who will be the next Triple Crown Champion?"
At the time, Matt Taven, Christopher Daniels, Jay Lethal, and Jay Briscoe were all one title away.
With the addition of the World Six Man Tag Team Championships, who will be the first to complete the Grand Slam? Matt Taven currently is the front runner with three out of four championships.
Any thoughts?
First Grand Slam Champion?
Re: First Grand Slam Champion?
Those closest into contention:
3 Championships
Matt Taven (TV, Tag, 6-Man)
Jay Lethal (Pure, TV, World)
2 Championships
Kyle O'Reilly (Tag, World)
Adam Cole (TV, World)
Bobby Fish (Tag, World)
Christopher Daniels (Tag, TV)
Jay Briscoe (Tag, World)
Jay Lethal can do it by either winning the Tag or the 6-Man Titles, which is the easiest path. ROH would also love for him to be the first Grand Slam.

Re: First Grand Slam Champion?
To me, Lethal has a unique opportunity that the others don't because he held the Pure title. I don't think they could justify pairing him up anytime soon given the level star he is, but it'd be cool to see him win the tag titles and 6-man before he hangs them up.

Eddie Edwards is one away, as well.

As is Roderick Strong.
Re: First Grand Slam Champion?
Matt Taven has about as much chance as being an ROH World Champion as I do.
Re: First Grand Slam Champion?
Isn't a grand slam one main title (World), one secondary (TV or Pure), one tertiary (6-man) and one tag ?
http://thelone.be/ => My site, which means a bunch of random stuff really.
Re: First Grand Slam Champion?
I think one time Kevin Kelly/ROH’s PR mentioned Jay Lethal as Triple Crown Champion, thus willing it into existence. . . ?Thelone wrote:Isn't a grand slam one main title (World), one secondary (TV or Pure), one tertiary (6-man) and one tag ?
Here’s what Wikipedia canonizes:
“The Ring of Honor (ROH) Triple Crown originally was defined as the ROH World Championship, the ROH World Tag Team Championship, and the ROH World Television Championship. It was later amended so that the World Championship and any combination of the Television, Tag Team or (now defunct) ROH Pure Championship would qualify.”
And so it seems that Lethal has the best chances of becoming the first Grand Slam Champion, much to your affection, I presume.
