Re: ALL PURPOSE CONTRACT STATUS/POTENTIAL DEPARTURES THREAD
I love Eddie and I love ROH, but Eddie would be nuts to come back. He's gone from random midcarder to main champion for two major companies (three if you count NOAH; I haven't followed his career there closely enough to know if it should count or if he went away for a while and came back as a big deal). Take whatever contract NXT offers and prove them all wrong again.

NXT already has 1 of his 2 interchangeable vanilla midget cousins.

What are the two? He was Impact Champion or whatever they call that now, but lets not be silly here, being TNA Champion is a bit like being the smartest kid at maths in a remedial maths class, sure its an achievement to a degree but in the grand scheme of things it's not going to get you anywhere and nobody really cares.maxx_powerz wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2017 4:30 pm I love Eddie and I love ROH, but Eddie would be nuts to come back. You can shit on the Impact championship all you want but when Eddie won his title it still had some meaning. He took the belt off of Bobby Lashley, who had just unified the World Title with the X-Division and KOTM Titles.
And it's the same lineage that includes the likes of Sting, AJ Styles, Kurt Angle, Austin Aries, Rob Van Dam, Bobby Roode, James Storm, Samoa Joe, Mick Foley, Jeff Hardy, etc.
This was before the rebrand-athon and the lawsuits and the rest of the noise that's been coming from that company lately.

Some is the most crucial word in this post. Re: ALL PURPOSE CONTRACT STATUS/POTENTIAL DEPARTURES THREAD
The gong show has been going on since the beginning but it doesn't change the fact that TNA was, until very recently, a major promotion. Even now, as a shell of what they once were, they're arguably still the #6 promotion in the world behind WWE, NJPW, CMLL, AAA, and ROH. Maybe you could argue Dragon Gate or one of the bigger UK promotions.
Eddie Edwards won the Triple Crown in both ROH and TNA, and he won a GHC Heavyweight Title on top of it. That is a fantastic accomplishment and TNA being run by marks, idiots, and drunks doesn't diminish it in any way.

Wrestling Inc reporting that Hanson and Rowe are done with ROH and will be heading to NXT after Wrestle Kingdom, provided their medicals come back clear. Sad, sad news.
Ricochet is also expected to debut in NXT soon. Even sadder.
And finally, they are also reporting that a top female indie star is expected to go to WWE soon as well. No idea who it could be.

ROH are locking everyone down, by the way. They've learnt from the past.
Re: ALL PURPOSE CONTRACT STATUS/POTENTIAL DEPARTURES THREAD
With the six-man titles in play, they're going to go after anybody who could possibly hold a title in 2018. It's how you end up with the Kazarians and Whitmers of ROH under exclusivity contracts. It might seem silly at first blush buts it's an appropriate tact. The Dragon Saga wrote: ↑Tue Dec 19, 2017 9:48 pm ROH are locking everyone down, by the way. They've learnt from the past.

Ospreay is officially going to be at EVOLVE for Wrestlemania weekend.

Re: ALL PURPOSE CONTRACT STATUS/POTENTIAL DEPARTURES THREAD
Observer:
Ospreay’s contract expired and he’s already been announced as working for Evolve, which is a rival group, on 4/5 and 4/6 in New Orleans, with Gabe Sapolsky telling Sports Illustrated that it’s 90 percent he’ll have a match on 4/6 with Matt Riddle. Ospreay lost to Taven on the PPV and Jay Lethal at TV the next night. His ROH run was a disappointment, not in match quality, but because he wasn’t around enough to be in as many different big matches. When you add that to the loss of Jay White, who was always going back to New Japan, but usually excursions are longer than his ended up being, that’s a decent amount of strong talent lost in a short period of time.
Ospreay said that his contract has expired and he didn’t renew but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be working for ROH going forward. But he did say he felt like he was working too much and wants to concentrate on mainly working New Japan. He said he would be in the U.S. for WrestleMania weekend and got an offer from Gabe Sapolsky to do two shows so he took it. But it is key that if he was in for Mania weekend he was working for WWN, since ROH has one of its biggest shows of the year that weekend. Ospreay also noted on his plan to move to Australia that it’s not looking good as he would need a permanent visa to buy a house, so it’s looking to be just visiting there until he can get that taken care of. ROH wanted to book Ospreay on every date he was not working in Japan, but he didn’t work as much in the U.S. as ROH hoped for. WWN also wants to use him for as many dates as possible, but right now he’s only committed to the two shows.

he wasn’t around enough he cant make last tapings too...a bummer.
Re: ALL PURPOSE CONTRACT STATUS/POTENTIAL DEPARTURES THREAD
Ospreay has too much ambition than float around ROH's midcard and be called a young up and comer in December 2017.

Re: ALL PURPOSE CONTRACT STATUS/POTENTIAL DEPARTURES THREAD
I don't blame ROH for not making him a main event talent. Every single interview he's talking about doing something different in the future. Wants to stay in NJPW forever, wants to do ROH, doesn't want to do ROH, wants to go to WWE, doesn't want to go to WWE, wants to stay and help the British indie scene, wants to move to Australia.
I'd rather have Will Ospreay than no Will Ospreay but that doesn't mean I think he should be in the main event.
