Yes, and he faced Shane Taylor in the match.

It wouldn’t be a terrible idea to bring him in for a few reasons; he seems to really like wrestling and has a history in it, MMA stars in wrestling is obviously a big deal right now, he’s a big and athletic guy. But a loss like that means he definitely shouldn’t be brought in anytime soon, because the booking may not be able to build him up as a guy who people should be intimidated by.

NEW ROH DOJO TO OPEN IN BALTIMORE WITH JUNE 23 SEMINAR/TRY-OUT CAMP

Image

The new, state-of-the-art Ring of Honor Dojo officially opens its doors in Baltimore on June 23rd and June 24th with a two-day camp followed by a regular training schedule on an invitation-only basis thereafter. The ROH Dojo will be partnering with the best professional wrestling schools from around the country to assist in identifying athletes who are ready to take the final steps in becoming a star on Ring of Honor television. All students will train under the full-time training staff.

Dojo members will train under:

Delirious, Ring of Honor Executive Producer – Delirious has over 19 years of international professional wrestling experience as well as nearly nine years as a producer for Ring of Honor. Delirious will focus on in-ring execution, television presentation, and more.

BJ Whitmer, Ring of Honor Producer, Color Commentator – BJ Whitmer has 19 years of international professional wrestling experience and has served as a color commentator and producer for Ring of Honor for three years. Whitmer re-invented himself on the microphone and will focus on both in-ring action and outside the ring communication.

Joey, International Wrestling Star and Producer – 90% of the stars you see on TV today have received tutelage from Joey. He has worked in every major promotion over the last 22 years and has been a professional coach/producer for the past eight.

Jonathan Gresham, Ring of Honor Wrestler – The man known as “The Octopus” has 13 years of international professional wrestling experience, competing in 13 countries across four continents before turning 30. A master technician, Gresham looks to share the art of grappling, conditioning, and much more.

Will Ferrara, Ring of Honor Wrestler – Will Ferrara has 12 years of international wrestling experience and got his international television break after becoming a student of the ROH Dojo. Ferrara has regularly appeared on ROH television for the last three years and looks to share lessons learned on his own journey to enhance the careers of ROH Dojo trainees.

In addition to the above five full-time trainers, the ROH Dojo will have guest trainers including the legendary Bully Ray, former ROH World Champion Jay Lethal, lead ROH Announcer Ian Riccaboni, and more.

Following the Grand Opening Seminar, the ROH Dojo will hold Try-Out/Seminar Camps every three to four months. Because the Dojo is invitation only for experienced wrestlers, the camps will serve to not only offer feedback, but will also function to identify talent to train in the ROH Dojo and, if applicable, be featured on ROH Television.

Keep it locked on ROHWrestling.com and the ROH App for more details about the Grand Opening of the new ROH Dojo and how you can attend the upcoming Grand Opening Seminar on June 23 and June 24!

Joey Matthews working for ROH in any capacity is a good thing. They'd be smart to utilize him as a talent scout and also a producer for touring, TV and PPV.

Jonathan Gresham working as a trainer is also great news and is hopefully a sign of his long term commitment to ROH.

It's just a ONO thing for house shows, just like James, Gimm or something like that.

If he is going to work a one night only match I'd rather see him be Gregory or Sugar Shane Helms.

Shane “Hurricane” Helms makes his Ring of Honor debut at ROH State of the Art – San Antonio on Friday, June 15 and will also compete the following night at State of the Art – Dallas AND Ring of Honor’s International Television Taping in Fairfax, VA just outside Washington DC on Saturday, June 30!

Helms’ career began in the pioneering organization OMEGA Championship Wrestling alongside fellow future stars Matt and Jeff Hardy, CW Anderson, Joey Matthews, Shannon Moore, Christian York, and others before quickly establishing himself as an international star! Helms has been an offensive innovator for nearly two decades across the globe and has held championships at every stop along the way.

Helms has never had an issue standing up to the biggest stars in the world, including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson so what does he have in mind coming to Ring of Honor! Join us LIVE in San Antonio, Dallas, and Fairfax, VA to find out!

I would’ve given a shit had he been brought in fresh off that mentioned Rock beef (in fact, he’d have been far more deserving of Jeff Hardy’s spot at Death Before Dishonor.)

Bet if it’s the Hurricane that shows up, he stands up to Bully Ray in defense of Cheerburger. Then maybe the second night he and Bully face off, some kinda screwy finish, and it all culminates in a blowoff match in Virginia.

Hopefully that’s it for appearances. I’m cool with small arcs for people like him, but I wouldn’t want him coming in like Bully. I don’t want Bully either but obviously that’s not an option.

I feel similarly, but we really haven't even been getting small arcs. These guys just come in and have random matches, then disappear.

Observer:
Bryan being announced [for Super Showdown and the European tour] is not a sign that he has signed a new contract, as he has not. It is certainly possible, perhaps even likely, that he will. He also could go independent and do appearances with the company on shows like this, similar to what Rey Mysterio Jr., has done so far this year. The difference between he and Lesnar is that Lesnar would be extremely unhappy about being announced for a date he’s not agreed to and it would give him a lot of leverage at that point. With Bryan, it’s not going to be the same situation.

Danielson should at least listen to what NJPW/ROH/CMLL/etc can offer before he makes a decision, even if the decision is to return to WWE.

Wholeheartedly agree. If he can get similar money and get to spend more time at home it would be an easy decision to leave WWE. Now it's no guarantee he will get that kind of offer.

Wrestling Standard has learned that WWE is getting ready for Daniel Bryan’s potential departure, by booking him in matches and storylines that were originally planned for the rest of the year.

Daniel Bryan has wrestled AJ Styles, Jeff Hardy, Samoa Joe, and more recently, has reunited with Kane – his former tag-team partner in ‘Team Hell No’ – as WWE is viewing Bryan’s run as a ‘farewell tour’. The matches just listed would have been his feuds moving forward towards the end of the year, however, because the company still don’t know if he will sign, they want to make the most out of having him under contract.

According to our sources, the current plan for Extreme Rules is for The Miz to prevent ‘Team Hell No’ from becoming SmackDown Tag-Team Champions, leading to a match between the two – Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz – at SummerSlam. In which, The Miz is expected to be victorious. Additionally, there have been loose talks of Bryan defeating The Miz at SummerSlam, if Bryan was to sign a contract extension, and carrying on their feud with a final match at Hell In A Cell.

Wrestling Standard understands that Bryan has recently hired the same agency as John Cena, who deal with his contract negotiations. Which, according to our sources, is one of the main reasons Bryan is still yet to sign; the ‘Yes Man’ want’s the best deal possible.

Two PPV cycles against Big Cass would seem to indicate not maximizing a potentially limited window.
