I read on 411 that the Spirit Squad isn't a one shot deal, and that they were set to make a debut at Manhattan Mayhem, which leads me to only two words.

Fucking why? The Hardys, yeah, I can get behind that. Bully Ray, eh, kinda, but Spirit Squad? Really? IF this is true, ROH can fuck itself. NO ONE has been asking for the Spirit Squad in ROH. NO ONE.

I'm not the biggest Ken Doane fan, but I'm happy to see Mike Mondo after his last run with the company. He was having some pretty good matches, hopefully he's improved in his time away.

Kenny Dykstra and Mike Mondo debuted doing their Spirit Squad gimmick at the weekend ROH TV Tapings. They were originally to debut at the last Hammerstein Ballroom event, but those plans were changed when Matt and Jeff Hardy became available and signed their short-term deal.

I think they just ran out of time or space on the show for the Spirit Squad, and Baltimore was their make-good after being promised a match. Nothing here says anything about them coming in for a short or long time.

At most, I expect the Spirit Squad to be a Stevie Richards type of thing, which is not to imply that the Spirit Squad have nearly the amount of good faith invested in them as Richards has. Doane and Mondo are enhancement guys that have worked TV and will be used that again if they have repeat bookings.

But of course, they’re being booked in the first place is a reflection of the sparse roster and of a kind of shortsightedness for having put them against their hottest act—possibly even at their hottest venue. This may also be the signpost of diminishing returns for former WWE/TNA talents appearing in ROH.
