Johnston pink slipped, replaced by Cornette. It becomes a scaffold match.

Oh hell yeah, once again the live event show is much more appealing than the PPV card, even though just one match has been announced.DXvsNWO1994 wrote:Will start a Field of Honor 2016 Thread in the coming weeks...

Damn, another special challenge!
I was in the front line when we battled page 15
Re: ALL PURPOSE NEW TALENT/SPECIAL ATTRACTION THREAD
Pretty sure "Special Challenge Match" doesn't mean a stip, but is just something to put on the graphic, similar to how they've used "Dream Match" and "Grudge Match" in the past.

Observer:
Ospreay is still in talks with both Evolve and ROH about having a regular U.S. gig to go along with his two-year deal with New Japan. Despite reports of his signing with Evolve, he had not signed a deal with anyone for the U.S. as of 8/1.

Signing Ospreay to US dates would be gigantic for ROH, now it's time to step up and thwart another big talent going to EVOLVE to springboard to NXT. That might be one of the most crucial signings of the last 5 years.

Re: ALL PURPOSE NEW TALENT/SPECIAL ATTRACTION THREAD
I really don't understand the benefit of Ospreay to signing any kind of WWN deal. Other than Heyman doing a big public contract offer for them, it doesn't make any sense. Evolve books non-contract talent all the time and Cody Rhodes is a good example that an in-demand talent can be booked by both ROH and Evolve. Why would he sign anything with anyone other than the WWE in the US?

Here's the thing with Ospreay. Him signing with Evolve would basically mean that he's already got one foot in the door with WWE. If he signs with Evolve, that's basically saying he's going to WWE eventually.
Re: ALL PURPOSE NEW TALENT/SPECIAL ATTRACTION THREAD
Newsflash : ROH isn't that big, almost mandatory stepping stone anymore. Hell, I'd say it's a place to avoid at this point unless you're a complete nobody like 99% of those seminar clowns or a washed-up guy from WWE/TNA.

I agree with you that ROH is a place for the boys to avoid in the current market. The reason is that is SBGI is cheap and won't pay the top talent. That is pretty much the only reason. The key is won't pay talent, not can 't pay talent. SBFI just reported over $ 600 million in revenue last quarter and the met their EPS goal. All this stuff about Evolve and NXT stealing talent is really not a factor. It just that SBGI wanst cheap content for their stations.
