If they really had those dislikes to begin with, it's not a bad idea to try to generate some likes to counteract it. Pointing out those dislikes might not be the smart thing, (I probably would have offered a contest or drawing to win something by having fans go and like the youtube pages) but I kind of loved blaming them all on the evil socialist Russia. Maybe because I've seen so many Fat rednecks wrestling under masks claiming to be from Russia, even in the last ten to fifteen years. That kind of tickles me a little bit.

Getting employees to spend time disliking all your own videos and thumbing up negative comments about your company isn't good business...
Why else would ROH actually point it out on their own website? I would have never known "Russia disliked ROH" without that info. Would you?
I wouldn't have known it was Russia, but you'd have to have stopped watching ROH's YouTube channel after 2009 to have never noticed the insane amount of suspicious disliking going on.

Also, they've technically been pointing out the dislikes every time they advertise a link to their videos. It's not as if the massive red line and top comments insulting ROH have been hidden.

This is old school story telling, which I have missed for many years. This is an angle, you don't go out making accusations like ROH is doing in the normal business world

I hope it's not an angle at all, because disliking your own videos for about 2 years, including a Larry Sweeney tribute, is fucking stupid.

I'm guessing they're just turning the dislikes into an angle.

Tbh, if this has been going on for so long, why not just disable likes/dislikes :S

Then what do they do when the angle's over and they've still got dislikes all over their videos?

Whether it's based in Russia

or being set to say the dislikes come from Russia is anyone's guess.

Dislike, Like, and Spam bots are a problem youtube has yet to fix for years.

There's literally no way to stop it.
If it's turned into an angle to bring in Alex Koslov, that's Heyman levels of Genius/Insanity/Awesome.

It's attempting to fight dislike and spam bots ruining their videos, it's hardly stupid.

If you think the dislikes aren't affecting ROH's fanbase then you'd better brush up on studying how the human brain reacts to these situations. I.e bandwagoning, being part of a group, etc.

As I said, dislike, like, and spam bots have been a problem with youtube for years. There have been many popular youtubers attempting to get youtube to fight these things but they have yet to do anything.

They're hardly fighting it as it's bots! It just looks unprofessional for a company trying to portray themselves as a big league promotion.

And people actually take notice of the "like/dislike' thing on Youtube? As Harry said, they could just disable it and avoid the situation. When it comes to technology, ROH are behind the times.

Maybe they want to let fans that support the product show their appreciation with liking.

Also I still don't get the bolded part.

I never like videos on Youtube, I just never have. I don't think anybody looks at the ratio and thinks, "hmmm, this video has loads of dislikes, it must suck so I'm not going to watch it." If it bothers them that much, they can disable that feature, nobody would moan.

ROH are portraying the company as a big thing (and so they should). They are a major promotion in the sport of professional wrestling and that article on their site just didn't fall into that. If TNA had posted that, people would be laughing at them.

It just seemed like a stupid thing to post to me.

Yea I agree with Steven, unless it's an angle, it's kind of silly to post it.

A month or so go, this forum kept getting spambot registrations. So we just changed the registration security (Spambots don't know the who the tag champs are ;)). This stopped the problem. We didn't need to post an article like FIGHT THE SPAMBOTS! JOIN OUR FORUM!

Honestly, I've never paid attention to likes/dislikes on youtube or anywhere else. I watch the video if I am interested, no matter what others think.

Bots are not "ruining" videos. Nobody is. If people wanna watch they will regardless no matter how many people like it or dislike it. As far as brain reactions, I, myself, am HUMAN, with a HUMAN BRAIN!!!

I sure hope so, bringing in Alex Koslov as a permanent member, maybe as the new member of the HoT, would be all kinds of awesome!

While I do agree with the fact that ROH probably shouldn't be pointing the fact the they are getting dislikes on youtube, I do think turning this into an angle is actually quite brilliant. Especially if this bring Alex Kozlov to ROH on a regular basis.
