Reloaded Tour: Lockport Review

Post by Big Red Machine »

ROH Reloaded Tour: Lockport (9/26/2015)- Lockport, NY

Ian Riccaboni is on commentary alone, which means we’re starting off with a Women of Honor match.

VEDA SCOTT vs. SUMI SAKAI- 5.5/10
The best of these new series of Women of Honor matches by MILES. That being said, if they want these matches to feel important, they should have Kevin Kelly and Steve Corino calling them instead of Ian Riccaboni, who sounds completely minor league.

THE ALL-NIGHT EXPRESS vs. THE HOUSE OF TRUTH (w/Truth Martini)- 5.75/10
The match was enjoyable, but this match should be exhibit number one in the case why Dijak is has been such a disappointment. Dijak has no idea how to wrestle like a big man, and Delirious has no idea how to book him like one. Why the f*ck would you have DIJAK eat the pin when you could have J. DIESEL get pinned instead?

CAPRICE COLEMAN vs. PEPPER PARKS- 6.75/10
Pepper Parks is wearing a shirt which says “My girl is strong than you,” which explains why ROH is booking him: Because they want to book his wife. He does seem to be really over here.
Caprice cut a great pre-match promo in which he felt the need to justify his new, more aggressive tendencies to the fans… or maybe, in reality, he feels the need to justify them to himself. His promo did a great job of setting the stage for this match, which really did feel like two guys fighting for a job.

RODERICK STRONG vs. TAKAAKI WATANABE- 7/10
I was actually hoping they’d get more time and let Watanabe really have a kick-ass match in his final ROH appearance.

ADAM COLE CALLS OUT MATT JACKSTON- Cole is still unhappy about all of those sneak-attack Superkicks last night so he calls Jackson out. Jackson, the babyface, once again comes out behind Cole, and at least this time he waited for Cole to turn around before throwing a kick. Matt Taven then attacked Jackson, so we got…

MATT JACKSON vs. MATT TAVEN (w/Adam Cole)- 6.5/10
Yes, the match was fun, but there was no reason for Matt Jackson to beat Matt Taven in a singles match. ROH had no solid plans for the Bucks for the next three months, meanwhile, Taven is one of half of the ROH World Tag Team Champions. He shouldn’t have lost. Also, Jackson is so irrelevant as a singles guy that when he won the match, Scarlett merely referred to him as “the Young Buck.”

POST-MATCH SEGMENT- Taven and Cole beat Jackson down, but Jackson gets the best of them once again.

“BRUTAL” BOB EVANS & TIM HUGHES vs. WILL FERRARA & CHEESEBURGER- 4/10
The match wasn’t terrible or anything (aside from the fact that the wrong team won) and I’m sure that being in the ring with a veteran like Bob was a great learning experience for the three young men, but sometimes the way that matches in this Brutal Bob vs. Cheeseburger feud get shoved onto shows just feels like Delirious, as a booker, deciding that he needs to get his sh*t in.

WAR MACHINE & ADDICTION SEGMENT- Daniels tells us that Kaz in injured and can’t wrestle. He also talks about the “conspiracy” against them in ROH. War Machine comes out to dispute Daniels’ claim that the Addiction have ever beaten them, which resulted in…

CHRISTOPHER DANIELS vs. HANSON- 4.25/10
A short match ending in a bad and pointless DQ that led to a brawl, all of which would lead to… absolutely nothing- not even a tag match when Kazarian got healthier- because Delirious is not a very good booker.
The only redeeming feature was that the DQ (for a low blow) led to Corino saying the following: “a shot to the ding-ding will give the bell a ring-ring.”

PROVING GROUND MATCH: ROH World Champion Jay Lethal (w/The House of Truth) vs. Stevie Richards- 7.25/10
Lethal wins after what may or may not have been foul play on the part of Taeler Hendrix allowed Lethal to hit the Lethal Injections. Richards looked fine, but not like someone who ROH absolutely HAS to be brought back if his price tag is high.

FOUR CORNER SURVIVAL MATCH: MICHAEL ELGIN vs. Adam Cole vs. ACH vs. Moose (w/Stokely Hathaway)- 7.5/10
Definitely a great match, but it was so random that it just didn’t feel like a main event. They also gave away way too much of Moose vs. Elgin if they are doing that match at Final Battle.

A decent show from ROH, but nothing close to what we’ve come to expect this year. In fact, it’s probably the second-worst show of the year, down only to last night’s Reloaded Tour show in California, PA. At 2:15:04, this is also one of the shortest shows in ROH history. This whole weekend has not had one match worth going out of your way to see, no storyline advancement of any kind, and a lot of very bad booking. I don’t think I’ve ever said this before, but it would have been better for ROH if this weekend had never happened.
