But what's the point of the first four matches exactly?
To find out who's the best? Isn't that not what ROH was founded on, the whole idea of competition?

"I'm the best."

"No, I'm the best."

"Well then lets have a match to find out who's better."

The only difference here is they're doing a series to without doubt say who the better man of their team is.

And honestly, just saying it, I think ACH will take the series but Matt Sydal will turn on him after.

I actually think they did as good a job as possible last night with the people missing or injured. The roster is a lot deeper than it was two or three years ago. Losing the Briscoes and two other key guys from a 2012 card would probably have sunk a show.

For the ACH/Sydal series, there have been heat problems. They could have at least announced the winner would get a TV title shot - it would have been something at least. But I think the main issue is both guys went into it pretty cold; neither has momentum, they've both been jobbed out a lot over the past year-plus, and there's no feud between them. It just sorta felt like "two undercard babyfaces who generally can't beat anyone else have 5 matches against each other, winner gets nothing."

I get that it would be a different dynamic and it's not like the matches are bad or anything, but five is more than enough for now.

I'm probably the only one who would want this, but had the end result been an entry into SOTF, the 5th and final match should've been a Ringmasters Challenge. I know they're high flyers and those match types don't really benefit them, but I love the concept and it'd be a good best of 5 ender.

Also wouldn't have minded if the series were all gimmick matches, like Danielson/Homicide back in '04 or '05. Maybe not brutal matches, but things like submission matches or Lights Out matches or something.

I don't see whats wrong with them doing the best of five series - you need to have matches on shows so a little bit of a reasoning behind them is nice, but yes they could of made it seem more important and having something at stake at the beginning, not towards the end.

Also adding stipulations to each match might of added something to the dynamic, TNA did this with MCMG and Beer Money in a best of 5 or was it 7 series? Using TNA isn't probably the best example but when they got stuff right it worked like a charm shame about all the other, you know TNA stuff to wade through.

I don't think his debut should've been with Lethal, but damn if Stevie hasn't made me excited to see more of him in ROH with this promo.

This will also be a Survival of the Fittest Qualifying Match, with the winner not only taking the series, but advancing to the Survival of the Fittest Finals.
Well... that makes this whole series feel a lot less important.
Why? At least the series now has a reward for the winner (which it didn't have when it was first announced).
Because a spot in Survival of the Fittest doesn't feel like a big enough reward for winning a best out of five. The reward shouldn't be something that they could have randomly had anyway (just like they did last year, in fact).

Also, what would anyone have gotten if he had won in three of four matches?
