Fantasy DVD concept - The Embassy vs. Generation Next

Post by supersonic »

Throughout ROH's history, the company has prided itself on producing the best factions in all of pro wrestling. Some went on to achieve great things, many unfortunately petered out into nothing.

But as 2004 concluded, one faction seemed to be standing above them all, as at that year's
Final Battle, Austin Aries violently took the throne of Generation Next leadership away from Alex Shelley, then went on to dethrone Samoa Joe in the evening's main event, to end his historic 21 month reign as ROH Champion and giving the year the ultimate close it deserved. This left Alex Shelley as a man without a cause, for he had been the architect for Generation Next earlier that year alongside Aries, Roderick Strong, and Jack Evans, all four men burning bridges left and right to make names for themselves.

With no allies by his side, Alex Shelley truly hit rock bottom, but always driven to take down the very monster he created and then betrayed him. He was often left injured, the victim of mob-style muggings from his former friends, and despite what appeared to be genuine efforts at atonement from him that won him audience sympathy, the ROH locker room still did not trust him, choosing to watch him pay for his sins. He found himself becoming a desperate man because as much valiance as he'd displayed towards GeNext, they only became more ruthless towards him, trying to put him out of the business for good.

Shelley would then make the stunning announcement, revealing that he hadn't changed, choosing to sell out and buy into the treacherous Embassy, who had also developed their own issues with GeNext. What then followed for the next several months were absolutely crazy trios and 8-man tags, with the violence escalating, as well as emotional ups and downs for each faction. It would all come to its appropriate conclusion, almost an entire year later, when the two factions collided in the first ever Steel Cage Warfare match.

ROH is proud to present a compilation chronicling one of the greatest feuds in company history. From the moment that Aries usurped Shelley as the leader of Generation Next, to their historic ROH title match at
Manhattan Mayhem, to the stunning reveal of Shelley joining the Embassy, all the way to the epic finale inside the steel cage, this has every essential moment of the war between two of the greatest factions in ROH's rich history. Other little moments are included as well, including the death of the VERY short-lived Air Devils tandem, Prince Nana's failure to recruit Aries, Jade Chung's mistreatment, a special appearance by Hall of Famer Mick Foley, and many more on this 3-disc anthology. And of course, numerous classic matches in their entirety involving other stars such as Abyss, Jimmy Rave, Matt Sydal, and even AJ Styles helping GeNext out.

This is the Feud of the Year for 2005. This is the Embassy vs. Generation Next.
