1 winner who will walk out with both the Ring of Honor World Championship and Ring of Honor World Television Championship
2 Competitors vying to walk out double champion, World Champ Jay Briscoe and Television Champ Jay Lethal.
3 RoH Triple Crown Champions will exist following this match. Ring of Honor has featured 4 titles in its history, the aforementioned World Title and Television Title, the RoH Tag Team Championship and the now defunct RoH Pure Championship. To become a Triple Crown Champion a wrestler must win three of these titles including the World Title. As of yet, this has only been accomplished by Eddie Edwards and Roderick Strong. As a former Tag Champ and current World Champ, Briscoe requires the TV Title. As a former Pure Champion and current Television Champion, Lethal requires the World Title.
5 times Jay Lethal and Jay Briscoe have faced each other in matches. Jay Briscoe has won 4 of these exchanges, notably last year when he faced Lethal for the TV Title and won by DQ, before going on to win the RoH World Title a second time. 3 other matches were tag matches where Briscoe and his brother Mark have beaten Lethal and his various allies. Finally the one match Lethal has won over Briscoe, a 20 man Battle Royale, The Honor Rumble in 2011 where Jay Lethal won though never actually pinned Jay Briscoe.
6th opportunity Jay Lethal has will have to win the Ring of Honor World Championship. His first title shot happening 10 years ago in 2005 against CM Punk. Some argue he should have won this title by now though his TNA run certainly interrupted his chances. In 2012 Lethal faced Davey Richard’s twice for the World Title whilst TV Champion, his belt never on the line. In October the same year Lethal would finally defeat Richards as part of his build up to two title shots against the then World Champ Kevin Steen. 3 years on he is TV Champion again and this time it’s on the line along with the World Title.
7 years ago since the last time two Ring of Honor Champions entered a ring with both belts on the line. A reign lasting over a year from Nigel McGuiness made fans debate whether or not his Pure Championship was the biggest prize in Ring of Honor Wrestling and forced World Champion Bryan Danielson to take notice. In Liverpool, England, the home field advantage was not enough and Bryan unified the two titles.
16 is the maximum number of title shots a wrestler has been given before finally winning the Ring of Honor World Title, a dubious privilege held by Roderick Strong who found himself, despite his talents unable to win the World Title after 15 shots against 8 opponents over 5 years, until he became the client of Truth Martini in 2010. Following this alliance he would defeat Tyler Black (now Seth Rollins) in a no-DQ match at Glory by Honor IX. Like Strong, Jay Lethal finds himself allied with the Championship X-Factor: Truth Martini.
(unrelated but interesting, the most title shots a wrestler has received for the RoH World Title WITHOUT winning is Colt Cabana with 11 title shots over the course of 6 Champions, gaining the privilege after Strong finally won the World Title. 2nd place is Chris Hero with 8 unsuccessful shots across 6 opponents and in 3rd is Christopher Daniels who has had 7 opportunities against 7 opponents.
19 Ring of Honor World Champions across 21 Reigns over 13 years. The Television Title has seen 8 Champions across 9 reigns in its 5 year history. Jay Lethal aims at becoming the 20th World Champion while Jay Briscoe seeks to become the 9th Television Champion.
27 months since Jay Briscoe has last been pinned or submitted, specifically by Bobby Fish at the 11th Anniversary Show in 2013 in a Tag Title match where ReDRagon ended the Briscoe Brother’s 8th tag title reign. Since then Briscoe has been made to vacate the title from injuries, seen his brother Mark and other partners pinned in tag matches, seen Michael Elgin pinned by Adam Cole in a triple threat for the title and lost a Ladder War with Adam Cole thanks to outside interference. But Briscoe has never lost a match from pin-fall or submission in over 2 years. This undefeated streak has also picked him up his 2 RoH Title Reign, the second one seeing 13 successful title defences and 285 days as Champion come Best in the World 2015.
30 successful defences of the TV Title by Jay Lethal, going over the likes of Alberto El Patron, Jushin Liger, Tetsuya Naito, Tommaso Ciampa, ACH and Matt Sydal. In terms of length he will have reigned 441 days come Best in the World 2014, easily surpassing his closest competitor Matt Taven’s 287 day reign and equally as easily besting Taven’s 11 defences of the title. As well as being the only 2 time TV Champion, Lethal has the fourth longest title reign for any kind of title in RoH history, only behind Bryan Danielson, Nigel McGuinness and Samoa Joe's World Title reigns. Lethal is without dispute the greatest TV Champion in the company’s history.
30 years old is how old Jay Lethal turned in April. Continuing the theme of Lethal’s long pursuit of the RoH World Title, the average age of an RoH World Champion is 27 (note: Xavier has no DoB listed on any profiles but it’s unlikely he was over 30 when he won the title in 2002 and influenced the math that much since removing Jerry Lynn from the sum only lowered the average age to 26) and only 3 Champions have been 30 or over when winning the title, Nigel McGuiness age 31, Jerry Lynn age 46 and the current Champ Jay Briscoe who was 30 when he began his second reign, though currently is 31.
(Random extra trivia, Kevin Steen won the RoH World Title 5 days after his 28th Birthday, the closest an RoH Champ has come to winning a title on their Birthday.)
38% the number of title changes have occurred in New York where Best in the World 2015 will take place, specifically 8 of 21 changes, the most for any State. This narrowly edges out Pennsylvania’s 28% with 6 title changes. The Best in the World event has also seen 2 World Title changes including last year when Michael Elgin defeated Adam Cole, the only time a RoH Title has changed hands in 9 Title matches in RoH’s PPV History.
100%. Lethal and Briscoe are the only singles wrestlers to have competed on all 3 of the last PPVs and have a 100% win record. The only other wrestlers who have 100% records are ReDRagon’s Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly.
101% the chance of shenanigans influencing the finish, with Lethal and Truth Martini joined by big man J. Diesel and Top Prospect 2015 winner Donovan DiJack, whilst Briscoe has watching his back Mark Briscoe and occasionally ODB.
217 days is the average length of a RoH reign not including Briscoe’s Reign. 220 once you do include it come Best in the World 2015. The average number of defences is 11, a number Jay has also bested. Above average is certainly one way to describe Briscoe as Champ with his reign now bringing up the average every day. It is also Briscoe's second RoH World Title Reign, Briscoe and Austin Aries the only wrestlers to have accomplished this feet.
263rd match for the RoH World Title at Best in the World 2015. It will be the 87th match for the RoH Television Title. That’s 350 matches all building to the Best in the World 2015 main event!
3,000 is the maximum seating at the Terminal 5 Event Venue where Best in the World 2015 on June 19th will take place with everything on the line for the Ring of Honor Champions, where a score is finally settled on who the dominant force is in Ring of Honor.

Pretty cool thing that a guy called ThatGavinFellow posted on reddit about the BITW Main Event: By The Numbers
Re: Official Best In The World 2015 Thread
Here is one of his matches:BrandenScott wrote:I am shocked to see Moose is on the Wrestle-1 USA shows coming up. Not really sure where he fits in with the roster listed. Maybe Moose VS Barbarian or Moose VS Kevin Sullivan? Neither sound appealing though.
The Great Muta with a mystery partner a long side his manager Sonny Onno will take on Moose Ojinaka and APWA Triple Crown Holder, "the Black Superman" Onyx with Amber Lea of Mass Destruction
Isn't Onyx the guy that made a Romantic Touch match even worse than it should have been?
And to keep it on topic, anyone else want Dalton Castle to crash the card in some manner? One of the earlier more random line up matches? He's already gotten the Super Beta Prostate push. It's time to move up the card some more.

This post perfectly illustrates how dispensable Moose is. If a guy is just kept around because he hits a good spear/Dropkick and it's a nice bonus to see Veda because of him, it should give you a hint how overpushed Moose currently is. Hopefully Delirious becomes aware of his deficiencies, there's no need to see this guy on every ROH Show, he'd need years and years of improvement to be qualified for the push he is currently receiving.isles11 wrote:There are some good things about Moose. One that spear is awesome.
And two, when he's around that means so is Veda Scott. And there can never be enough Veda Scott.

That triple crown thing seems odd, the Triple Crown in any promotion has always been World Title + Tag Title + Secondary Title hasn't it? I wouldn't of thought TV + Pure + World would count *shrugs*
Re: Official Best In The World 2015 Thread
reDRagon vs The Addiction IV should be great with the new heel/face dynamic and the No DQ stipulation. The card, as this moment, looks pretty solid to me.

Re: Official Best In The World 2015 Thread
Triple Crown means winning the 3 topmost championships. That commonly means World + Tag + Secondary because that's commonly all a given company has, to the point that's what people just assume the definition is. Companies that have further championships often treat them noticeably poorer, giving the perception that's they're less than Triple Crown worthy. ROH's Tag, World and Pure titles have all been strongly booked, to the point where you can't really pick out one as a clear 4th rate title to the other two. They're all of relatively equal value, so any pair can count towards the Triple Crown.Robareid wrote:That triple crown thing seems odd, the Triple Crown in any promotion has always been World Title + Tag Title + Secondary Title hasn't it? This isn't a thing that Reddit poster merely assumed either, ROH was actually the one that brought attention to it. When they announced Davey vs Lethal for Homecoming back in 2012, they mentioned that Jay would be a Triple Crown Champion if he won on account of his Pure Title reign.
Grand Slam traditionally means winning every championship, by the way. Presuming there's more than three. If Lethal gets himself a good tag partner he could be in store for a pretty damn exclusive bragging right.

I'm gonna be at the top of the mountain in three years, with or without this belt. I'm gonna be the best that ever lived. And what you don't understand is, even if I don't get that far, at least I had the courage to get off my ass and try.

While it's hardly the most official of sources, but then again there really aren't any official sources, wikipedia disagrees. *shrugs* Who really cares? And when Lethal wins we'll see.

Re: Official Best In The World 2015 Thread
Ring of Honor’s summertime extravaganza, Best in the World ’15: Battle of the Belts, returns to New York City at Terminal 5 on Friday, June 19th. This event will be seen across the US and Canada live on Pay Per View, starting at 9pm EDT/6pm PDT.
MARK BRISCOE w/O.D.B VS. DONOVAN DIJAK w/TRUTH MARTINI
When Jay Lethal and Truth Martini’s House of Truth declared that they wanted Jay Briscoe’s ROH World Championship, Mark Briscoe knew there would be trouble. Never one to back down from fight, especially involving his brother, Mark Briscoe is now involved in a war with the House of Truth that will bring him face to face with the impressive Donovan Dijak!
Truth Martini secured the services of the 6’7" athlete to the shock of many. Donovan Dijak is both physically and athletically impressive and won the Top Prospect Tournament for 2015. He serves alongside fellow H.O.T. member J. Diesel as the muscle behind ROH World Television Champion Jay Lethal. That role has lead to him right to the battlefield between Briscoe & Lethal! Alas Mark Briscoe isn't coming alone as he is bringing One Dirty Briscoe to counteract Truth Martini
Is Dijak ready for the war that Mark Briscoe is going to bring? Is Briscoe ready for the physical tools of Dijak and the war games planned by Truth Martini? Will O.D.B make a difference for Briscoe? What role will J. Diesel play in this? Make sure your eyes on are Best in The World ’15: Battle of The Belts!

Btw, Chris Sabin has been replaced in a match he was supposed to have on the same day than Best in the World in AAW (the match is now Johnny Gargano vs Davey Richards) so he wasn't booked for the PPV at all.

On PPV? Really? It's the same one of two matches Castle has with everyone (either comedy because they are creeped out by him or comedy because they respond positively to him like Romantic Touch did), and basically the same match Silas has with everyone. It's fine for an undercard match on a regular show or a TV match, but this just seems like a waste of PPV time.AssShooter wrote:
