I wouldn't say it's his height or look, but Okada, Tanahashi and Nakamura all had such natural charisma without opening their mouths at either show.

We all know Elgin's not a natural speaker, but look at what they had to use for a soundbite for this BITW promo:

Elgin can state the shit out of some facts.

Sure. But the traditional role of foreigners in Japan is to be giant monsters. Devitt and AJ are really the only two non-giant foreigners who have ever been pushed above the junior level. Elgin doesn't fit that mold.

Yeah height doesn't mean shit. His look is fine too. Can't see Cole working as a Jr because he's not really a high flyer and that's what most of them do.

Elgin's problem comes from the charisma he has, and his in ring work. Nothing else. Mic work doesn't mean shit in Japan for a Gaijin.

That's a very nicely produced promo video for BITW.

Expect the 8/10 Seibu Dome show, with the G-1 finals, to be a super loaded show. Normally it’s just G-1 matches on the finals, right now the plan for this year is to have both G-1 matches as well as title matches in the junior heavyweight or tag team division to make it as close to a Tokyo Dome card as possible. Also expect some ROH talent to debut. Tickets went on sale recently and while we don’t have numbers, there were apparently a lot of casual fan ticket sales with the idea of seeing the first time pro wrestling ever runs at the Seibu Dome.

Interesting that the G1 Finals is the same weekend as the ROH Show in Philadelphia (August 9th). It'll be interesting to see which talents appear at the New Japan Show and how that effects the ROH Show's card.
