They have opened talks with New Japan with an attempt to bring Hiroshi Tanahashi in. There have been talks about using a number of New Japan wrestlers during 2014 for major shows.

They way they are hyping Border Wars and the NYC return those are the likely candidates. ROH even said in a newswire a few weeks ago that they were in talks with wrestling offices to put on a special event in 2014. I think those two shows will probably have a big NJPW influence. Even if it is mostly American NJPW guys like Hooligans, Bucks, Anderson, Time Splitters and then the big attraction of Tanahashi. It would be so dope. I really hope it happens.

As a NYC fan though if the crowd chants dumb shit at Tanahashi I will be very pissed. I am already expecting stupid funaki chants and shit.

Elgin. Put the IWGP Intercontinental Championship on the line and let the two heavyweights go at it, no shame in Elgin losing, especially to someone like Tanahashi. And hell if he does a second date stick him with AJ, I believe they had a match in TNA when Hiroshi made a couple of appearances and - like TNA do with most of their talented performers - was misused.

You don't even need any storyline for necessarily. The wrestling alone would sell it.

It's still going, but ROH and NJPW have always had a working relationship of some sort. You think ROH are just throwing the IWGP Jr. Tag Titles on the line for the hell of it at Manhattan Mayhem? Of course they'd have to gain permission. NJPW also want to be promoted in America to sell their iPPV, who better for them to sell the product to then ROH fans, who are most likely to have a decent insight of it beforehand rather then TNA's fanbase and definitely WWE's.

If I got to make the bookings (and assume its run like Marufuji/Ishii was supposed to be) I would do Tanahashi/Elgin and Shibata/Roddy on 'ppv' and Shibata/Elgin and Tanahashi/Roddy on TV... makes a problem with who gets the Ws, though, unless they can be booked again later in the year... ROH should start a new tradition and do a Spring and Fall Canadian show with NJPW talent at each... especially since Border Wards in May is usually impossible for me due to work haha
