Re: Ring of Honor Events Schedule Thread
JR said on his podcast with Adam Cole that ROH is huge on Oklahoma City TV so i am not surprised they are having a show there.

Great that they're expanding again!
I was in the front line when we battled page 15

It'll be very interesting to see how well ROH draws in the Southern Plains, since it's an area they've really never run before.

seems like the first 5 rows are sold out on presale alone for WoTW. How long do you think it'll take for them to sell out once it's public?

All three sold out in advance I think. Which is great for ROH as it seems to be becoming their shtick.DBSommer wrote:seems like the first 5 rows are sold out on presale alone for WoTW. How long do you think it'll take for them to sell out once it's public?

Updated the schedule to include the May 12th ROH/NJPW Show (still waiting for the official announcement so I can add the ticket page) as well as Best In The World Weekend.

ROH also just announced they're returning to Baltimore in July.
Apparently it's apart of the "Aftershock" tour, which is kinda weird, as that was just the subtitle of last year's Hopkins, MN show, and now it's a whole tour.

Nothing wrong with their tendency to choose easy, kitschy season-related names for their touring events.
Personally, I'm anticipating a Summer 2016 "Gonna Make You Sweat" Tour.

assuming it is the "aftershock" of the events from "best in the world".DXvsNWO1994 wrote:I like it better than the Summer Heat Tour...TYFDK wrote:http://www.rohwrestling.com/news/ticket ... rs-members

starting to respect that ROH is creating touring seasons
it gives a blueprint of some type of continuity
interesting date they chose for baltimore
it is the weekend of otakon
good opportunity for some new japan cross-promotion type stuff
It's not easy being the Greatest 7th generation wrestler Of All Time!

You would think that The Young Bucks would be on this show. With the G1 starting up that month, the juniors won't be needed.

Re: Ring of Honor Events Schedule Thread
I actually think there is. A lot of these names just make me groan. I understand their need to brand things to make them seem for bigger (although I think names like "Road to Best in the World" actually make the shows seem smaller), but I hate them for the DVD releases. They just don't feel as important, and they don't feel as (for lack of a better term) "artsy," which is something that can set ROH apart from WWE's house shows- by making them all feel individually important.Wilson wrote:Nothing wrong with their tendency to choose easy, kitschy season-related names for their touring events.
Re: Ring of Honor Events Schedule Thread
I think the generic tour names are part of the trade-off of them doing a more episodic big-show (PPV) based schedule. When they were a VOD only company they tried to make each show a bit more unique, but then you had less direction leading up to any single event, particularly on TV, and it all seemed disjointed. If that's a casualty of them doing a better job at that (late match announcements seem to be part of that as well), I think it's a good trade off. I really liked how they built to the 13th Anniversary show and hope they keep a focus on building to PPVs.
That said, with a lot of skill I'm sure you could do both well, but I'd rather this than focus on a Hopkins, MN house show in April as opposed to the NJPW shows or BITW. They don't have a history of doing both well.

Re: Ring of Honor Events Schedule Thread
They'll likely hold over 40 shows this year, it's going to be hard to come up with a new good new name for every show, so I'd rather see four good tour names then 20 bad names for single shows. Now I just hope they'll start coming up with good tour names, I'm already fearing a "Rasslin' in the Rain" tour for the fall.
