So um... What the fuck is this?
Re: So um... What the fuck is this?
It sounds like a low-level sponsorship you'd get playing EWR.
Re: So um... What the fuck is this?
I don't think anyone is having a 'puritanical' reaction. It's not a moral issue with pornogarphy that is upsetting here it is the fact that working with a webcam site (and a pretty low rent one) makes ROH look like a cheap small time indy fed when they should be trying to be seen as larger and more important. But at the end of the day everyone's gonna forget about this deal pretty quickly I assume.I'd like to say I am surprised by the puritanical reaction to this, but I'm not. Just amused in a sad way.

I'm not sure why everybody is so outraged? It's more hilarious than harmful. I'd worry more about the lacklustre product than the somewhat shady sponsors!

At some point, the Yakuza will want to sponsor ROH.ROHWorld_Steven wrote:I'm not sure why everybody is so outraged? It's more hilarious than harmful. I'd worry more about the lacklustre product than the somewhat shady sponsors!
That will be an interesting day...

As pathetic as those facebook images are, I think this banner on the ROH Homepage is more troubling:

Honestly, the bigger news in that photo is that we're FINALLY getting the Year 3 Compilation DVD.AOTF wrote:As pathetic as those facebook images are, I think this banner on the ROH Homepage is more troubling:
I think you're honestly overreacting with the We Are 18 thing. It's a sponsor, so what? Sponsors are sponsors. It's not affecting the ROH product so why should I care?

Um....it never left. Nor did it change because of the sponsorship. Again, why are you overreacting to something that has pretty much no baring/effect on the ROH Product?AOTF wrote:Where's your honor?
Re: So um... What the fuck is this?
I've been an ROH fan since day 1. Part of what made ROH so special is that it was a relief from the nonsense associated with mainstream wrestling (aka WWE). The "Code of Honor" was a great way to make ROH stand out right from the start. It was a promise that the wrestling would matter. Of course, ROH has slowly moved away from the "Code," and there have been numerous screwjob endings and questionable storylines. But ROH was always a special product that focused on the wrestling itself, not the sleazy sex-soaked underbelly of the mainstream product.DXvsNWO1994 wrote:Um....it never left. Blatant corporate sponsorship from a teen camwhore porn site just undermines everything ROH once stood for. It's sleazy, and it's pathetic. Worst of all, it's desperate. It lets you know right away that the focus is no longer on the wrestling. It makes it clear that you should not be telling your children and children's friends to check out ROH. It makes it clear that families are not welcome. It's just sad.

I recorded reruns of Workaholics last night.
While watching, I just saw a commercial for WeAre18.com.
If anything, that just makes this whole thing more awesome.

Well this is sad.I know diehards want to pretend that there's nothing wrong as long as ROH is making money but there's a whole lot wrong with it. ROH's legitimacy has taken a nosedive, it used to be like a respected cult favorite band but nowadays I haven't heard anything said about ROH. No buzz. I don't even know who's champion. It's sad because many years ago I really believed in the company's future and sacrificed my time for it when I made hype videos with HDNet. I don't quite understand what its even trying to do anymore.

The most troubling thing about it is that it's 2013 (almost 2014) and they've got a 1-800 chat number. I've got no problem with cam sites. I love them, and it's better than spending the money on indy women wrestlers with Amazon wish lists. That written, this one looks pretty low rent. I'm not clicking that banner for fear of what kind of infection that site will give my computer.AOTF wrote:As pathetic as those facebook images are, I think this banner on the ROH Homepage is more troubling:
There are 100s of things to get uptight about in this world. I don't think this is one of them. However, opinions will vary and to each his own. The sponsorship does seem a bit out of place to me, but I'm not going to get bent out of shape over it.

On last TV episode during the Four Corner Survival Match, on the ringside with Truth Martini and Scarlett there were 4 girls. I wonder if they're from WeAre18.com

Those were actually just local strippers.KL_ wrote:On last TV episode during the Four Corner Survival Match, on the ringside with Truth Martini and Scarlett there were 4 girls. I wonder if they're from WeAre18.com
They handed out "VIP passes" for free lap dances or something when the show was over.
