so what ever happened to the original ROH forum?

Post by Recall »

I've been away from the wrestling community for going on 4 years now, whatever happened to the old ROH board at rohwrestling.com? Why do they no longer have one? Where's my drama?

It was taken down during Kevin Steen's return to the company after he lost to Generico at Final Battle. Of course, that was the kayfabe explanation. I think the answer is that SBG don't want to have to moderate an 'official' forum so they just took it down.

This place is much better anyway ;)

We never did find out if Chris Masters should come in.

You can find pretty much the same level of thoughtful yet hard-hitting conversation on this board, though, as well as a similar level of uncertainty about when to use apostrophes and how to spell challenging words like "hooligan".

I personally feel like Sinclair wanted to censor us, there was so much negitivity about the company at the time and long time fans were leaving, to this day I feel like they don't listen to the fans like they used to.

SBG's communication with fans is piss poor.

This forum is great and there's no Gabe monitoring the place deleting anything slightly negative or critical.

It is just not the same ROH now that Gabe isn't going all big brother on the forums anymore. I don't really care enough to check, does Evolve/DGUSA have a forum? I imagine he patrols that like a shark.

My favorite memory of the old forums is a tie between when it was shut down for a few days by Chris Hero and the fans were forced to use CZWfans or when I was told I was a bad fan by others on the board for enjoying IWA-MS. Because, how dare you enjoy Jimmy Jacobs and Delirious outside of ROH.

Whatever happened to him? Did he just ascend to a higher plane of existence when the board melted away?

He was excommunicated.

I still think I'm the most banned member of the original boards due to only sharing my complaints and not airing enough positive items even though I bought every show on DVD and loved the promotion and would clearly invest too much of my time into it all.

Still due to those boards I met some of the most outstanding and genuinely fantastic people I've ever had the pleasure to meet.

The glory days are clearly gone but at least the promotion is still alive :)

Have you tried the wayback machine for your old threads?

There was a DGUSA/EVOLVE forum, again moderated heavily by Gabe, but there was so much dead time between shows that it pretty much died a death (I haven't checked in a long while)

And yet you have a quote from him in your sig. Glad to see you have moved on from him.

I never said I stopped mocking him. He pops up elsewhere from time to time spreading his brilliance. Now fuck off to contributing nothing on this forum.

I find that the mods on here are better than most mods on the other forums i frequent. I've never seen a mod as bad as Gabe, but i have seen mods that are the almost too laid back about stuff

Gabe was the epitome of a board nazi, having no sense of humor and severe allergies to 99% of blunt criticism.
