Way too much stuff for a PPV. I defend Delirious on occasion but this is a bad habit of his that he just keeps repeating. Can't imagine in 2021 there is much bonus pay for wrestling on a ROH PPV but I can't figure out why he packs these shows so much otherwise.

Re: Best in the world 2021
I didn't get the chance to update yesterday but, once again, a mysterious quantity of tickets popped up. This time at least 50 seats appeared out of nowhere.
I am still not sure what keeps happening with this. Seems strange that there would be four mass cancellations but I can't think of an alternative explanation unless they released more seats. I don't think they released more, but they could have sneaked an extra hundred or so in there in previously released sections.

There’s what, 10 matches/segments on the show. Something has to be real short, or nothing is getting any real time.maxx_powerz wrote: ↑Fri Jul 09, 2021 1:35 pm Way too much stuff for a PPV. Re: Best in the world 2021
I have a fear that some of the matches are going to be given too much time. With this many matches, some of them need to be 7-12 minutes. I can think of a couple times when the championship main event was cut short due to time. I'm also saying this because I'll be there live & don't want to hang out late.
It's not easy being the Greatest 7th generation wrestler Of All Time!

Re: Best in the world 2021
Just a benchmark
191 unsold, 36 up for resale, 227 available
So assuming 700 were released and zero more were released after that, we're looking at a minimum crowd of 509.
If they started with more or sneakily released more at any point, then it could be more.
When I checked earlier today there were 198 available, then later it was back up at 203, now back down again. Genuinely confused about why the unsold number keeps going back up randomly.
Two non-resale seats randomly popped back up in the lower bowl if anyone here is still on the fence about going.

Re: Best in the world 2021
I think a Briscoe sixty second squash is realistic. I could see the six man being a glorified segment that only gets five or whatever. But it looks like a lot of ten minute matches getting screwed on time to me. They could do something creative like have Brody squash Lethal or Tony get jumped before his match then Dragon Lee beat him quick. Hoping they find time for the World, Tag, Pure and Last Man matches myself.EvanKnight wrote: ↑Sat Jul 10, 2021 11:10 amThere’s what, 10 matches/segments on the show. Re: Best in the world 2021
I have to imagine at least 1 match and/or segment gets moved to the per show. Currently:
Preshow has 2 matches (1 hour)
Main Show has 9 matches and 2 segments (3+ hours)
Usually about 3 under card matches per hour - 2 matches including the main event.

A podcaster tweeted out it's set up for 1.500 fans and the company sold about 700 tickets. https://mobile.twitter.com/Spandex_Pod/ ... 7381399552famicommander wrote: ↑Sun Jul 11, 2021 9:31 am 179 unsold, 24 up for resale, 203 available

That's total bullshit. I'll trust Famicommander over that dude anyday. That tweet is dripping with anti-roh hate.Chrisvegas27 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 11, 2021 9:40 amA podcaster tweeted out it's set up for 1.500 fans and the company sold about 700 tickets. https://mobile.twitter.com/Spandex_Pod/ ... 7381399552famicommander wrote: ↑Sun Jul 11, 2021 9:31 am 179 unsold, 24 up for resale, 203 available

That doesn't make a whole lot of sense. There are ~180 remaining and you can see that live on Ticketmaster for yourself right now. There would have to be ~800 remaining for their take to be true.Chrisvegas27 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 11, 2021 9:40 amA podcaster tweeted out it's set up for 1.500 fans and the company sold about 700 tickets. https://mobile.twitter.com/Spandex_Pod/ ... 7381399552famicommander wrote: ↑Sun Jul 11, 2021 9:31 am 179 unsold, 24 up for resale, 203 available

The only thing I am 100% confident in is that they released at least 700 tickets and have sold at least ~520. It could be that they released more than that but there's absolutely no way the could've released 1500 if only 700 have sold so far. Basic math proves this.

I wanted to mark this right now because there are a bunch of seats right now that are a lighter blue than the normal unsold ones that just randomly popped up. They don't seem to be reflected in the counts at the moment; I think these might be seats that are about to be released for walk up traffic. A bunch of them are singles on the aisles, a few small groups together.
If this is what was happening earlier they may have sneakily upped it from ~700 to ~900?

So yeah, all those seats that were previously light blue and not reflected in the count are now showing up as normal unsold tickets.famicommander wrote: ↑Sun Jul 11, 2021 10:39 am 167 unsold, 20 up for resale, 187 available

So at least this time I'm confident that some extra seats really were released. This could be what happened the previous times when the unsold number jumped up, and I simply didn't catch the light blue seats popping up prior.
So now I'm predicting an announced attendance of 600-800. If it's higher than that I'd guess comps were involved.

If my memory serves correct Ian has mentioned that Baltimore is a good walk up town for ROH. Late tickets being released to accommodate that business wouldn't be surprising.famicommander wrote: ↑Sun Jul 11, 2021 11:08 amSo yeah, all those seats that were previously light blue and not reflected in the count are now showing up as normal unsold tickets.famicommander wrote: ↑Sun Jul 11, 2021 10:39 am 167 unsold, 20 up for resale, 187 available

Re: Best in the world 2021
If it is 600-800 ....not sure sure what to think of that. Is it a success, or failure. Maybe Decent; but could be better.
I think the numbers sound a little underwhelming; but also these are "unique times". I think i'd be happy with those numbers for a non-ppv show (also not in their hometown) ; but a show they've been building for a few months AND in Baltimore, i'd have to imagine they would hope for a bit more.
Either way; excited for the show; but not sure how much i'll be watching tonight. The signing of new names always interest me.
Not sure on the philly venues, but probably best for ROH to stick to the smaller venue's for now.

Re: Best in the world 2021
The way the sales went indicates that pod seating really killed sales. The fact that scalpers made out as well as they did shows many more people would've been willing to buy floor seats and lower level seats, as well as seats in general in smaller quantities. The vast majority of seats left are four to six seat pods in the upper level.Montana wrote: ↑Sun Jul 11, 2021 2:38 pm If it is 600-800 ....not sure sure what to think of that. They could've sold the 600 floor seats easily with no social distancing, that much I'm sure of. Probably a lot of the lower bowl too.
