ROH News and Notes from PWInsider - January 3rd

Post by AnthonyD1987 »

Ring of Honor on Sinclair Broadcasting TV, which is currently leading the PWInsider.com Year End Awards for "Best Newcomer" and placing well for "Best TV Series" will debut in West Palm Beach, FL, Austin, TX and Medford, Oregon shortly. We'll have full details on channels and timeslots shortly.

For those of you in Chicago who have been asking about the ROH return to that market, the promotion will return to The Frontier Fieldhouse on Saturday 4/28. That's the day before the WWE Extreme Rules PPV in the same market, so if any of you are traveling in for that, ROH is also in town if you want to see another show.

ROH will return to Dayton, Ohio on Friday 4/27 in a new venue, Hara's North Hall.

Good news that the TV show will be airing in another large market (Austin).

Always great news to hear more TV markets opening up. The return to Dayton should relieve some concerned fans.

Isn't WPB where ROH is running WM weekend? That's just great timing for the tv show to be aired there right before the ippvs.

ROH is running Fort Lauderdale, so it's maybe an hour south. I think Fort Lauderdale would probably be closer to the Miami market than a West Palm Beach market, but I don't really know for sure, it could catch stations from both markets.

Ring of Honor will start airing on Sinclair's Providence, Rhode Island Station, WLWC on Saturday 2/4 at 10 PM. I haven't heard of any other timeslots in that market for the series.

There were a lot of happy faces within Ring of Honor after Saturday's TV Taping in Baltimore, as the show went off without a hitch and had really good reviews from both those working for the company and readers in attendance. There were about 600-700 fans at the Du Burns Arena, which will be used for the next few tapings as well.

A number of top flight Sinclair Broadcasting officials were at the taping and had something of a meet and greet with the ROH roster before the show. I was told that of the entire roster, The Briscoe Brothers were the most requested talent that Sinclair reps were asking about meeting at the show.

Former WCW star Crowbar and former New Japan star Ricky Reyes both worked the tapings. In the case of Crowbar, he owns a physical therapy business with several locations in New Jersey so working a full-time schedule in the business these days is out of the question. He's down to his old WCW weight and pretty much will be working tapings putting people over as his goal is to have fun and get to work some good matches. Reyes, who's a hell of a worker, would fit in great here stylistically.

Matt Taven, who's one of the top Northeast Wrestling names, received a tryout at the TV tapings over the weekend. Mike Mondo of OVW/Spirit Squad fame also worked the show.

Maria Kanellis is now being billed as the first Lady of ROH.
