For those thinking day 2 would be filler, Voices of Wrestling are about to release a review, but they've said it was a "shockingly good show". Never doubt New Japan.

Robareid if you wouldn't mind would you post their * ratings? I don't want to read the review just in case I see the winners, but I do want to see how Joe/Rich rated it. Thanks :)

Sure, will do.

As a note to everybody, Voices of Wrestling is the site for wrestling reviews if you haven't heard of them, especially NJPW. Definite recommendation from me. I'm hoping to become a writer there atm.

That's awesome dude...Rich and Joe are really great guys. They have IMO the best wrestling podcast out there. And it's really cool of them to do the G1 and BOLA contests that they're running. Love those guys...and I think you'd be a good addition to their site.

Voices of Wrestling Star Ratings:

Ishii vs. Kojima ****
Benjamin vs. Fale **3/4
Goto vs. Takahashi ***
Naito vs. Archer ***
Nagata vs. Honma ***1/4
Nakamura vs. Smith ***3/4
Yano vs. Styles **1/2
Tenzan vs. Okada ***3/4 ( :o )
Makabe vs. Anderson **1/4
Tanahashi vs. Gallows ***

Sounds like a step below the previous show, but still a good show.
Spoiler: show
Freaking Benjamin is 2-0? What the hell? They have Fale beat Ishii then lose to him

Those were my thoughts exactly. I hlaf expected that they'd accidentally typed an extra * for Okada/Tenzan and missed one off Makabe/Anderson, but the match reviews matches.

Only got through 2 matches but had Ishii/Kojima at ***3/4 and Fale/Shelton at **1/2. Shelton/Fale was actually really enjoyable, it just was too short for me to go over.
Spoiler: show
Ishii bleeds from the mouth in his match with Kojima. Dude is a fucking warrior as usual.

Just got through day 1, I'll probably be behind on the whole tournament.
I thought the first half was pretty average, second half was great.
I think most people seem to be overrating Ishii/Fale (wasn't that special to me) and under-rating Makabe/Goto (one of my favorites of the night).

Another solid show. Honestly, the Tenzan match was good. He's probably stepping it up because of what happened last year.

Yuck. Goto is so unbelievably boring to me...I legit can't get into any of his matches. Although I fucking love the Shouten-Kai.

Just finished watching G1 Climax 24- Day 2. I stayed off social media all day to avoid spoilers.

rating-- big time thumbs Up
best match-- Karl Anderson vs Togi Makabe
worst match-- Shelton Benjamin vs Bad Luck Fale

What a show. Take star ratings for what they're worth, but remarkably I had 9 of 10 matches rated 3.5 stars or better. The crowd was great from start to finish.

Anderson vs Makabe was great. Like the opening tourny match with Makabe, his opponent worked over his broken jaw hard. Anderson's punches looked much more crisp than Goto's in night 1 though. Anderson's super stun gun for a near fall was great as was Makabe's super release german where Karl landed on his head, so sick looking. Makabe then hit the king kong knee drop for a super hot finish.

Nagata vs Honma was a great match too. Innovative, stiff, awesome. I'm so happy Honma got into this tournament.

Ishii/Kojima was a hard chop fest.

Yujiro, Archer, Davey Boy, Yano, Styles, Gallows all had their best matches in months. The whole card stepped up for an unreal show. No word of a lie, I already got my $110 worth.

I thought Archer/Naito was very good. Big height on that Archer choke slam. Hard landing by Naito on the Archer overhead toss. Liked the small package finish too.

What a match Okada got out of Tenzan! Tenzan nearly took Okada's head off on that heel kick. Okada got a lot of distance on his macho man flying elbow and landed a beauty dropkick as always.

amazing value at $15 for an individual show

day 2 star ratings...

Ishii vs Kojima ***1/2 ... hard chop fest
Fale vs SXB **1/4 ... either Fale's being booked as a monster IC champ or not. He's not good enough to be booked weak.
Goto vs Yujiro ***1/2 ... Best Yujiro has looked in a long time
Archer vs Naito ***3/4
Honma vs Nagata ****1/4
Davey Boy vs Shinsuke ***1/2 ... better than their match in this years New Japan Cup
Yano vs Styles ***1/2 ... AJ's leap frog got a big pop. Lots of funny stuff but Styles played his part great. Crowd was into it
Okada vs Tenzan ***3/4 ... unreal Okada got such a good match out of Tenzan
Makabe vs Anderson ****1/4 ... still thinking about how good this was
Tanahashi vs Gallows ***1/2 ... Gallows stepped up big time. Tanahashi was a superstar

Day 2 was rather average. Apart from Ishii/kojima nothing that was really memorable, but nothing really bad either solid show but not even close to day 1.

Dave wouldn't be Dave if he didn't overrate Puro. His first half ratings are fine other than Anderson/Tenzan.

2nd half is a bit ridiculous though.
Goto/Makabe was just a standard typical Puro match. Nothing special at all.
Tanahashi/Honma at ****1/4 with a not-hot finish?
Nakamura/Shibata ****1/2 with Nakamura's no selling and spot trading.
