this Day 4 card looks amazing. i had it rated best card pre-tourny.

Honma/Ishii on May 3rd is 2nd on my match of the year list. Honma's so over everywhere they go. what's a guy got to do to get a push? i can't believe he wasn't scheduled in the tournament to begin with. sad an injury to ibushi had to get Honma in

Makabe/Archer should be very good. Archer's impressed in his 2 matches. Fans should be solidly behind Makabe.

Nagata/Nakamura should be very strong. Over/Under number of kicks in this match is set at 50.5. knees, kicks galore. Like Nagata's shirt says, he's the anti-aging hero.

Naito/Styles could be a classic. Hopefully Naito is fine after Yano threw a chair at his head, busting him open.

Okada/Anderson should be very good. Machine Gun looking good so far this tourny despite an 0-3 record. i think he could get a win here. 4 undefeated guys left

thanks to excerpts from Tanahashi's book, Tanahashi/Shibata should be very good. Does Shibata get a big win? all 4 undefeated guys could lose?

Shelton is going to troll us all and win the G1. Him of all people is 4-0. Arguably the worse wrestler in the tournament.

"Shelton has Honma on the final night. Honma probably eliminates him, while also getting his first & only win. Makes sense, no?"

Sounds like night 4 was a show of the year contender, and the best of the G1 so far.

Ishii vs Honma holy fucking shit! IDC if I'm overrating it. ****3/4. Fucking spectacular. First half was really really good. Typical undercard from NJPW that was made by a MOTYC right before intermission. 2nd half gonna be even better!

Also, agree with all of VOW ratings, although I think you can go up to ***1/4 for Tenzan/Suzuki.

I thought Honma/Ishii from tonight was way better. Thought it was nearly a perfect match. **** for Okada/Anderson? I was a bit underwhelmed with that. Same with Shelton/Davey Boy. That match sucked IMO. DBSJ is so fucking hit/miss.

Finally caught up. I'm glad their taking more time with the tournament this year; it's hard to find time to watch that much wrestling.

Honma is definitely delivering, but is anyone else already tired of that falling headbutt spot? He goes for it like 2-3 times a match and it's essentially a comedy spot.

I thought Shibata vs Tanahashi was great. Probably my favorite of the tourney so far.

Honestly it's my favorite spot in wrestling. The crowd goes fucking ape shit when he goes for it, and yeah he usually misses it. But that's what makes it so special. Because when he hits it the crowd goes even more ape shit.

The only reason you're getting tired of it is because Honma is now on every show, but really you just have to enjoy it for what it is. Honma and Ishii IMO are the 2 best wrestlers in the world right now, with Ricochet being a slight 3rd. They truly just understand how wrestling works.

i agree. it doesn't really matter if a northwoods ngihtmare is tired of the headbutt miss. the crowd loves it every time. it makes the payoff of when he does hit a headbutt that much better. ishii and honma are two of the best around for sure

Okada definitely is in that conversation.

If I had to pick the 5 best wrestlers in the world right now, they would be as follows:

Tomohiro Ishii, Tomoaki Honma, Kazuchika Okada, AJ Styles, Hiroshi Tanahashi.

Bryan would be on the list if healthy. Rollins is just outside those 5. Same with Cesaro. Not really too hot on anyone in the Indys right now.

Trevor Lee is going to become that guy in the future though. It's too bad ROH only cares about look nowadays because supposedly he killed it at the ROH tryout camp that Mike Bennett was at, and Steen told them to book him. Instead we get Moose, Hanson, Rowe, etc. Not that I'm not fans of them...but Lee is 53204534521049120952X the worker of all 3.

I don't think Styles is anywhere near that level. He's good, but not as good as he used to be, and nowhere near top five in the world for me.

I personally haven't seen anything from Lee that makes me go "damn, destined to be top five in the world", but I have only seen him work the three way. He looked very good yes, and I'm not saying he can't be that good, but I'm yet to see him do anything that makes me think he's got more potential than guys like O'Reilly or Sho Tanaka for example.
