I'm not sure, but Turner was, indeed, the most veteran referee in ROH right? I'm pretty sure Todd came like 1-2 years later or so.
I believe Paul Turner was there since day one, or very soon after.
3rd show.

EDIT: Paul actually worked the first show skipped the second and made the third.

Very grateful as TNT executives were 100% justified to move on in their Nitro book quotes.

This really does feel so WCW in so many ways, it will be really interesting to see how this all plays out.

It will be interesting to see how they have a more “sports” focused show... yet balance the entertainment side. Seems like the entertainment side is a key to big ratings, not to mention BTe, and road to nightmare stuff. Just seems like the two sides conflict.

I don't think the storylines have to conflict with the sports focused presentation.

Boxing and MMA have storylines as ridiculous and convoluted as wrestling promotions half the time.

My only problem is the dated $50 PPV model. I guess I can see why, they don't have the content to offer a streaming service like NJ World yet but $50 is steep. Shame because primary market ticket prices were so great for Double or Nothing. Highest tickets face value were nearly $100 less than G1 Supercard or G1 Climax Dallas tickets.

I believe Double or Nothing will be available on the Bleacher Report App. I don't know what the pricing structure will be for that. I assume that they will provide other content for the app besides just large events.

How long will the AEW honeymoon last ? Omega , The Bucks , Y2J and The Rhodes brothers are going to have the top spots. Will PAC, Page , SCU , the Best Friends and the rest be happy on the under card . I give it 6 months to a year before reality sets in for the under card workers. Only so much room at the top .

I'll be curious as to the business model once TV starts. As far as, will all of the content be either TV or PPV like WWE, or will VOD shows be part of the schedule like ROH. I would imagine it's easier to keep everyone happy if there's VOD because you can main event a random show with Best Friends / Young Bucks or Pac / Omega or whatever because you have more content to fill, whereas the PPV/TV only model probably will have a heavy focus on the Bucks, Cody, Kenny & Jericho at first.

Ultimately though, SCU, Best Friends & Page were midcard guys in ROH, so even if they are just midcard guys in AEW, they'll be doing it on TNT with their friends, so I can't imagine much of an issue.

Also factor in the speculation of AEW signing CM Punk and Jon Moxley along with the push from people for like everybody from WWE to go there. Where is there going to be room for everybody? One of the things that always causes backstage problems in promotions that want to be competition is when they keep relying on signing WWE names. The WWE names will come in and take spots from the already existing roster members.

I think that's what the two summer shows are going to be. Fyter Fest has The Elite vs. PAC & Lucha Bros, Jebailey vs. Michael Nakazawa, as well as Cody vs. Darby Allin. Fight for the Fallen has Brandi vs. Allie and Omega vs. Cima confirmed.

But they aren't really house shows or really story line driven, they are special events that have there own reason for having wrestling matches rather than being anything to do with TV.

They've already said they aren't running house shows, so TV and PPV's are really going to have to matter and present everyone in the best possible way. With the large roster they have that's going to difficult highlight especially with the upper tear that supposedly is the main draw for entire company.

PAC VS. PAGE OFF DOUBLE OR NOTHING DUE TO CREATIVE DIFFERENCES

The angle at today's WrestleGate show in Nottingham, England involving PAC and Hangman Page was done largely to present the match that had been built up because the match won't be taking place at Double or Nothing on Saturday.

The official word from AEW is that there were creative differences regarding the match and PAC won't be on Saturday's show. With PAC's regular matches in the U.K., it's known that beacuse he takes his status as world champion with Dragon Gate seriously, he has not agreed to any losses since winning the Open the Dream Gate title and to protect that has done 30:00 draws with Zack Sabre Jr. and Will Ospreay. On the flip side, AEW wants to present a sports-like atmosphere and had their own direction for what they wanted.

The PAC vs. Page match will be released this week on the Internet by AEW with the idea that everyone can see the match, even if it had a DQ finish, for free, so fans are getting the hyped up match. Page agreed to fly to England and do the match to make up for the hyped match not happening on the PPV. Page will be wrestling against a new opponent, although the name probably won't be announced before the PPV show. The DQ finish kept things open ended enough that PAC may be back with the promotion at some point to face Page, although there is no definitive time frame.

There will be at least one more announcement made midweek regarding Saturday's show.

Maybe don't book a match that you can't get the result you want.

They really didn't know PAC isn't taking any loses until he loses his home promotions top title?

To be honest, I didn't have much excitement for this match anyone. I like when there is a good story for why a match is taking place and the story behind this match is these two guys yelled at each other in Jacksonville for whatever reason and apparently Page is too fat and too skinny at the same time. BTE has been pretty bad for most of the year.
