Former TNA Wrestling President and former creative member of RESISTANCE Pro Billy Corgan has agreed in principle to purchase the NWA according to PWInsider.com. The details are Billy would purchase the name, rights, trademarks, and possession of the NWA championship belt.

If only we had known back in the '90s what would happen if we bought so many copies of Siamese Dream.

VoW perfectly encapsulated my feelings on this. It's great that Billy Corgan wants to put money into Pro Wrestling, and the only downside is that NWA remains as irrelevant as it is right now. Really no downside to this.

Too many couplets rhyme with NWA in the lyrics to ‘Bullet with Butterfly Wings’, so please out tease out whichever shitpost works best for you. Also, I think this qualifies in folding back and adding more knotty contours into the current bizarro-TNA continuum.

If this purchase just leads to NWA becoming a contemporary idiosyncratic indie like Beyond, AAW, or PWG then by all means.

Does he own Bruce Tharpe now too?

You gotta admire Billy Corgan's tenacity. Dude wants to run a wrestling company more than anything. I hope this does well.

There were refs in the NWA in the 80's who had more talent than some of the guys they book now.

There are new details about Billy Corgan's purchase of the NWA. PWInsider is reporting that Billy Corgan has purchased the NWA from Bruce Tharpe who owned it for roughly five years. The purchase will include name, rights, trademarks to the NWA as well as the rights and possession of the NWA championship belt. It will also include Tharpe's position in the NWA on Demand VOD service and the Paul Boesch wrestling library.

The actual ownership of the library remains with the Boesch family, as it had while Tharpe was utilizing it, but now Corgan would have the same rights and responsibilities that formerly applied to Tharpe.

PWInsider also included that Tharpe's position with the company is still being decided and that there are long term plans in the works so to not expect to see big changes immediately.

Dave Lagana has been busy making this promotion feel real and important, which is by no means a small task.

I like in the video where Billy says he could argue that the NWA World's Heavyweight Championship is more relevant now than ever.

I mean, you could technically argue that. You'd be wrong, but you could argue it.

Hard to argue relevance of your title when the title change this weekend was a mid card match on an indy show that is not even under the NWA banner as far as I know.
