Wrestling Bucket List

Post by Brada »

I have been really blessed in life to be able to do quite a number of things from a wrestling fan standpoint, which has made some great life long memories....

I have been lucky enough to be in attendance at....

Wrestlemania 17 in Houston
Wrestlemania 18 in Toronto
Wrestlemania 19 in Seattle
Wrestlemania 21 in Los Angeles
Wrestlemania 23 in Detroit
Wrestlemania 24 in Orlando
Wrestlemania 25 in Houston
Wrestlemania 26 in Phoenix
Wrestlemania 31 in Santa Clara
Wrestlemania 32 in Dallas

Been to other countless PPV's and Hall of Fame nights....Royal Rumble in New Orleans, Summerslam in Phoenix, Survivor Series in Dallas, actually every PPV ever in Dallas.....

Was able to grow up as a kid in the World Class days......grandparents took us to Will Rogers Coliseum on Monday nights, then to the world famous Sportatorium on Friday nights....got to see the Thanksgiving night and Christmas night Spectaculars at Reunion Arena........David Von Erich Memorial Parade of Champions at Texas Stadium when Kerry beat Flair for the NWA strap...

I have even got to have a cup of coffee in the industry with my announcing background...I competed in the casting call announcing competition WWF put on during Axxess week at Wrestlemania 17 in Houston ( I am on the DVD and on the network, do I get royalties for that?? lol)

I was able to parlay that into some announcing work with local promotions here in the DFW area, which was a great time.

After that long winded intro (sorry guys), leads me to my thought, and what I am interested in hearing from the regulars here.....

What is your Wrestling Bucket list? Things you would like the chance to see.....

What is your Bucket list for things you wish you could have done, but no longer have the option too?

What is your list of favorite things you have done?

Here are mine.....

My Wrestling Bucket list for things I have yet to do, which is only a couple since I have been so fortunate.

1. See some good Wrestling overseas....preferably England, Ireland, or Japan....ROH in England or New Japan would be really cool.

2. Get to Boyle Heights to see Lucha Underground live in the Temple.

My list of the things I wish I could have done....

1. Been able to see some of the great ECW shows in Philly at the Arena during their hay day.....damn that would have been awesome.

2. Been at WM 20 at the Garden.....really regret missing that year.

3. Been able to catch some Mid-South as a younger kid in New Orleans (lived a short time in Slidale, LA during the Mid South period)

My favorite wrestling moments in life....

1. Wrestlemania 23 Weekend in Detroit

Had NOTHING to do with WWE.....My brother and I had the unique opportunity of hanging out with quite a number of the ROH guys at our hotel bar on Saturday night before Mania, after the ROH show. That was the night Jimmy Jacobs and BJ Whitmer had the bloodbath in the cage (best cage match I have ever seen).

My brother and I were staying in a hotel near the airport, and it happened to be the same hotel the ROH guys were put up in, which was nowhere near the Fairgrounds where the ROH shows were.

That night after the show...my brother and I go back to have a few beers, thinking things would be low key. Ended up being far from it. We were the ONLY 2 non wrestlers in the bar hanging with the ROH group. We were able to spend about 3 hours with Jimmy Jacobs, BJ Whitmer, Colt Cabana, Roddy Strong, Jack Evans, Nigel McGuinness, Alex Shelley, Christopher Daniels, Becky Bayless, Brent Albright, and Erick Stevens.

Jimmy, BJ, and Colt were all really cool guys who were very down to earth and a lot of fun to be around. We didn't beat them down with wrestling talk (with the exception of my brother and BJ talking World Class for a bit). We both have maintained friendships with all 3 of them over the past 10 years...all great guys. I think this night has played a part in us being so passionate about indy wrestling ever since.

2. Wrestlemania 17 Weekend

My first Mania, arguably the best Mania ever....great Taker/HHH match and great main event with Rock/Austin, where nobody in the building thought Austin would turn heel....I was in the 4th row that night......unforgettable....awesome event.

Being able to compete in the announcing casting call was a dream come true as well, which really opened some doors for me in TV/Radio industry right out of college....was a great weekend for sure.

3. WWF Smackdown in Bossier City, LA back in 2009

Again, not for the event, but for what happened before. That Monday night, RAW was in Dallas at American Airlines Center. The next night, they were taping Smackdown in Bossier City, Lousiana which is right outside of Shreveport. My brother and I live in the DFW area, and we decided to leave town right after RAW, make the 3 hour drive, gamble all night at the casino, then sleep in, and get up and go to Smackdown....

We get to the Horseshoe Hotel about 2 am, go to the front desk to check in....and Arn Anderson comes walking up. He had a few drinks in him, and for some reason, he had mistaken us for someone working for WWF. He told us both "smart move driving in tonight guys. Call time is noon, don't be late."

We checked in to the hotel, went down to an empty blackjack table, started playing, and within 10 minutes, we were joined by Arn again, along with Jonathan Coachman, Rikishi, Billy Gunn and Chuck Palumbo. This was at the beginning of the Billy and Chuck angle.

We were able to play with these guys until the sun came up. Just to hear them all tell stories and share laughs, I will never forget. Arn Anderson is by far one of the coolest guys I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. VERY COOL GUY. Jonathan Coachman was a great guy as well, I still have kept the connection with him. In fact, when I had a local podcast going here in the DFW area back in 2009, Coach and Colt Cabana were my first 2 guests on our debut night. Very cool of both of them for being willing to help me out and do that.

It was awesome to have some cocktails with those guys, have some good laughs, and hear them share stories and ribs back and forth. My brother and I didn't talk so much that night as we listened, and had a great time sharing the laughs.

Fast forward to current day.......I work in Airline Management in Operations....so I work crazy hours....

When its slow, and I'm here on the forum, 5 am is a great time to come up with thread ideas...lol

Now interested in hearing yours................fire away.

Seems like seeing Taker at anything other than Mania is definitely out of the ordinary these days. Would be cool to see him back for more of a regular schedule. Smackdown needs it these days.

This. I totally have this at the very top of my list. Would have loved to do this years ago, but still have this empty feeling that needs to be satiated.
Attend Wrestle Kingdom live.

I would say that going to a show at the ecw arena is on my bucket list, but I've been to MSG and Hammerstein so many times and those places are better. I've been to two wrestlemanias(20 and 29). Have gone to numerous other ppvs, Raws, Smacdown, and house shows. I've been to 14 ROH shows(2 in the front row). While I never attended an original ecw show, I did go to extreme reunion and Sandman poured beer down my throat lol. Attending the wwe hall of fame at MSG was awesome. The one TNA show I ever attended was the one in which Dixie went through the table:)

I'm pretty much good!

That's a pretty damn good resume. Final Battle last week was my 20th ROH show...next couple on deck are Dallas and Vegas for me...
