Yeah, Stokely wearing the belt makes no sense and is pretty stupid...

Yeah, I'm a little confused by it as well. You'd figure that, if they are going to do the title change, it'd be during 'Mania Weekend in Orlando. Then again, La Boom has become Evolve's home in the New York market, so I wouldn't be shocked if they do the title change here.

I actually like it. It's one of those things that helps make Thatcher's character stand out. He knows that the title is just symbolic, and if Stokely getting to wear it is the price he has to pay for Stokely handling the business side of things- i.e the stuff he couldn't care less about- then he's fine with that because he knows that what really matters is if someone can beat him, and so for no one has.

In a bit of sad news, Peter Kaasa will be stepping away from wrestling for an unknown amount of time after the injuries he suffered when the ring broke during his match with Jaka at Evolve 76 in San Antonio:

I had no idea EVOLVE booked Sammy Guevara. Excellent move. Those 3 cards are really strong. I will be at 80 and 81...looking forward to them.

Kyle O'Reilly coming in has me very excited.

debuts vs. Keith Lee in Queens on 4/22 (is this a first time ever match?)

vs. Fred Yehi in Brooklyn on 4/23 (this is going to be GOOD!)

vs. Matt Riddle in Chicago on 5/20 (a dream match IMO and I will be there live!)

vs. TBA in Detroit on 5/21 (also will be there live...Cobb is off the board vs. Riddle for this show, so perhaps vs. ZSJ or another of the new guys to join EVOLVE - Lio Rush or Dijak, if still around)

The Riddle match is going to kill.

So Evolve's weekend in Orlando was mostly a good one. Evolve 80 & Evolve 81 were very strong shows, though both had their respective hiccups. Keith Lee vs. Ricochet & Zack Sabre Jr. vs. ACH were the best matches from Evolve 80, while Keith Lee vs. Donovan Dijak & Ethan Page vs. Darby Allin in an Anything Goes Match were the best matches from Evolve 81 (I did a written review of this show on VOW). Mercury Rising 2017 was pretty good, but it was definitely the weakest of the three. Aside from Ethan Page vs. Jimmy Havoc, the EVOLVE vs. PROGRESS series was strong, with Chris Dickinson & Jaka vs. The South Pacific Power Trip being the best match on the show by far (The match that the SPPT had with Sami Callihan & Shane Strickland on the PROGRESS show was even better). Aside from that series, the show was mired with a number of alterations to the card (the opener changing multiple times, Su Yung no-showing, and of course, Galloway being "written off" so he could sit in the crowd at NXT). The Battle Of Champions Elimination Match for the WWN Title was very good, and Matt Riddle winning was no real surprise, but it was a disappointment in the sense that it was probably one of the most hyped of matches of the EVOLVE/WWN weekend in Orlando, and it didn't totally live up to the hype.

Anyway, here are the cards, thus far, for the next two shows:

Evolve 82
Queens, New York 4/22/17

- WWN Title - Matt Riddle vs. Timothy Thatcher (with Stokely Hathaway)
- Non-Title Match - EVOLVE Champion Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Drew Galloway
- Last Man Standing Match - "All Ego" Ethan Page (with The Gatekeepers) vs. Darby Allin
- EVOLVE Tag Team Titles - Catch Point (Tracy Williams & Fred Yehi) vs. Chris Dickinson & Jaka
- Keith Lee vs. Kyle O'Reilly
- ACH vs. Austin Theory

Evolve 83
Brooklyn, New York 4/23/17

- EVOLVE Title - Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Lio Rush
- Non-Title I Quit Match - WWN Champion Matt Riddle vs. Drew Galloway
- EVOLVE Tag Team Champion Fred Yehi vs. Kyle O'Reilly
- Darby Allin vs. Keith Lee
- ACH vs. Jaka
- "All Ego" Ethan Page (with The Gatekeepers) vs. Austin Theory

Developing YIKES story about WWN's allegedly misrepresenting their books and market sell-through.

Saw that coming. With how much Flosports paid them I had no idea how they were going to make any money off WWN.

Also probably a prudent decision by ROH to turn those guys down.
