So, as we all know, Evolve will be one of the promotions participating in the Global Cruiserweight Series, as NXT General Manager William Regal announced at the recent Evolve shows that Evolve would be holding some Qualifying Matches for the tournament. Well now, PROGRESS has officially joined them...

This is seeming more like a standard tourney which is a bit disappointing.

Really cool that they put a Hong Kong wrestler in there.

Tozawa's the only name that I find surprising thus far. Always figured Sabre Jr. was a virtual lock. Probably guys like Ibushi and Scurll as well.

Again, this whole thing has the chance to be one of the finest pure wrestling exhibitions ever.

First time I've ever seen Ciampa referred to as a cruiserweight. Having said that, the best thing the guy did for his career was leave ROH.

His wiki bills him as 210 pounds so either he loses 5 pounds or they'll fudge his weight.

And this isn't a knock on him but one thing that really surprised me watching him wrestle live was how small he looked compared to seeing him on television.

I feel like they might Kayfabe guys 5-10 lbs over, Haskins is 209 and I have a feeling he will win one of the qualifiers.

I know Hong Kong is English speaking area and EVOLVE went to China, but
This tells us WWE focus on everywhere.

Cuba Ghana Mongolia Singapore and Bolivia could be next.

That's a quarter of the field filled.

Also, does anyone know anything about Ho Ho Lun?

Pretty much the only Hong Kong wrestler with any kind of buzz but that's mostly due to a severe lack of pro wrestling in the region. He has a few matches on YouTube, nothing too special but not bad at all.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if they brought him in for his hometown only but hey, he still gets a chance to shine.

How did I just now find out about this? This sounds awesome!
I really hope the qualifying matches in other promotions will be available on the network in some way, at very least extended highlights. Or at least I hope they keep the great match-ups that I'm going to care about until later in the tournament.

The other interesting this is that they'll probably be booking this thing round by round. So, this will probably be a semi-legit tournament (not like shoot-wresting but in terms of talent).

I also think this helps quell the fear of "NXT is killing the indies." They're actually doing a lot to support the indies, and indie wrestlers, letting the work without contracts, supporting other promotions, and all that. It's great to see Triple H express his belief in keeping the indies and the business in general strong and growing.

Okay, guys listen. I will NOT be in the Global Cruiserweight Tournament.

One reason, I'll be in Japan winning BOSJ. Again.

That's a shame unless he's trolling.

Does the BOSJ take place between June 20-25?
