Austin, TX– September 22, 2014 – The match has begun. With production of the new action-packed series, “Lucha Underground,” underway in Los Angeles, El Rey Network and Emmy Award®-winning producer Mark Burnett’s One Three Media today announced new members of the character-driven, riveting, freestyle wrestling series. “Lucha Undergound” will kick off with a special two-hour episode on Wednesday, October 29th at 8:00 pm ET/PT.

The new high-flying Luchadores joining “Lucha Underground” include: Prince Puma (aka Trevor Mann); Mil Muertes (aka Ricky Banderes); Johnny Mundo (aka John Hennigan); Chavo Guerrero Jr.; "B-Boy" Benny Cuntapay; Cortez Castro (aka Ricky Reyes); Catrina (aka Karlee Perez); Angela Fong; Son of Havoc (aka Matt Cross); Big Ryck (aka Ryckon Stephens); Ivelisse; Mr. Cisco (aka Lil Cholo); Martin Casaus and Holly Michelle. There's a fair amount of talent on the roster and looks well produced. I'll definitely give it a try.

I wish I got this station.

Any idea why the name/character changes for established guys like Ricochet, Hennigan, Reyes, etc?

Is the El Rey network primarily in the US? Is it broadcast in Mexico or globally?
I heard some reports that after the first tapings there was some negative reaction that it wasn't "lucha enough," and some feelings that Chavo was making the matches a slower, more Americanized version of lucha libre.

If it's going to a predominantly American audience, this seems like the way to go. When I occasionally watch CMLL or something I see a lot of fast action but really don't know what's going on and have a hard time getting into the matches. This seems like maybe a nice entry point into Lucha.

USA only.

That was for like the first 2 episodes, apparently they adopted a more hybrid style for episode 3 & onward (a taping is just one episode). So it would be American lucha I guess

They're really hyping it well. I'm not somebody who generally finds Lucha to be my cup of tea, but I'm really looking forward to this.

Just found out that Univision will be showing this a few days after El Rey does. That's awesome since I have Univision and not El Rey.

I have my DVR ready to tape this. I've been watching a lot of CMLL lately, so it will be nice to see lucha in English.

I liked the first episode. I like that kayfabe seems to be alive in LU.
Nothing breathtaking of industry changing, but it was still good and I'll be coming back. Will be fun to watch this grow.

Good show! I'm really looking forward to seeing more Ricochet on a wrestling TV show. It was kind surreal seeing him on the show.

Episode 2 was a good one. Lot more story driven than episode 1 and it helped get a lot of balls rolling.
Weakest match was the main event but even that one was good.

I thought episode 2 wasn't anywhere near as good as episode one. It just wasn't interesting. All of the stuff with Sexy Star and Son of Havoc SUCKS. She is a terrible babyface.
That turn at the end of the show, though. THAT was great.

I love that it offers a genuinely different feel to "the mainstream". Doesn't insult your intelligence either. I really like it all in all.
