The WWE Network Thread

Post by DXvsNWO1994 »

I think this topic has earned a thread of its own, plus with all the content it offers, it's probably easier to split it from the regular WWE Thread.

Regarding the network, I actually have a question. What are the PPV's from WCW & ECW that I need to watch? Just want to know what's good and what's not (I know their isn't a lot of good with WCW and their reputation, but they have to have had good PPVs).

I'm very excited for the WWE Network. The $9.99 price tag with a 6 month commitment seems pretty reasonable seeing that all 12 ppv's plus every WWE, WCW and ECW ppv of all-time will be included. Plus the other territories footage is great.

I wonder what they'll include with the WCW ppv's? Post-Turner stuff only? Or will it go deeper into the NWA library?
It will be interesting to see how and when they include the other tape libraries they own, I don't think they've announced anything.
Along with the great matches, I'd like to see some documentary type pieces relating the history of specific territories/wrestlers/feuds, similar to what they sometimes include on the dvd compilations.

They said on launch they will have every WWE, WCW and ECW PPV available. As for WCW, i assume they will include all from Starrcade 83 to Greed 2001, minus the few german only ppvs they had i assume.

But i don't they think they will unload everything like WCCW, AWA, Mid-South, Stampede, etc. first day, probably in the coming year to still gather interest.

According to Dave Meltzer:

“For people who think you can have access to the entire library, that is not close to the case. Only about 1.5% of the library will be accessible, and very little of it will be old territorial footage. And while they will add new content weekly, they will also remove content.”

So maybe people should wait before they sell their DVD Collections. :)

Anyway, I still think WWE Network is more appealing than Netflix.

There's no way they could feasibly put the entire library on there anyway.

Was kind of hoping for shows like WWF Superstars and WCW Saturday Night to be on there.

I only dumped the blu rays that have PPV matches I care about. If it's a TV match or includes a documentary-style camera shot of match, I keep them.

It's finally here. The full list (via article published on wwe.com) of all the WWE/WCW/ECW PPV's that will be available on the WWE Network come February 24th. It's worth nothing that none of the WCW/New Japan PPV's from the early 90's will be available, but Over The Edge 1999 will be available.

Get ready to watch all of these WWE, WCW and ECW pay-per-view events when WWE Network launches on Feb. 24, 2014!

I just wish they had all the episodes of Hardcore TV and ECW on TNN.

THAT would get me to subscribe.

I'm talking like, all of it. Not just bits and pieces, which I believe is their plan.

I'm not going to lie, that list of PPVs on launch is insane. I wasn't going to get the WWE Network, for many reasons, but damn, I may go back on my decision.

Starrcade from the early 80s is very cool. I'd love a deeper list of ECW shows, not just their PPVs, but hey-ho, I'll be getting the Network anyway as soon as it is available in the UK.

Also, much like MDCU for Marvel, it will make me have a guilt free black magic from getting stuff from their library that isn't put on there.

Just a quick question, but out of all the WCW Shows, which ones do I need to see? Either because they are really good shows or because they are of historical significance...

Significance wise, BatB 1996 would spring to mind.

Can't really comment too much though. In my back watching I've only watched 1985 of WWF, and after that I've got nothing till 2011.

I always enjoyed Starrcade '91: Battlebowl, just the concept of random tag teams with possible tag partners against each other just to advance to a battle royal at the end. Plus it was the first WCW ppv I saw when I was 7.

Spring Stampede 1998 and 1999. For some reason those shows were a lot like Money in the Bank where they had fun builds and good matches and it wasn't a major PPV.

Starrcade 2000 was good for what it was. That had a great mid-card with a fun triple threat tag ladder match, main event was meh.

Starrcade '83 (the first ever "PPV" even though there was no PPV until 1986). Very fun show. Very big show. One of the largest gatherings of wrestling superstars from across the country a year (December 1983) before Vince thought up Wrestlemania (January 1985). Very deep card, very good matches, especially Valentine/Piper, and Flair/Race.

Starrcade '85 featuring Magnum TA/Tully Steel Cage I Quit for the US Title. One of the most brutal wrestling matches ever televised. Amazing crowd. Great build. First show to ever happen in two locations (four months before Wrestlemania II) Also had Dusty/Flair to culminate their rivalry after three years.

Starrcade '97 and Superbrawl VII (1998) with the Hogan/Sting matches. Don't even need to explain those. Superbrawl VII also has perhaps Goldbergs best match ever...against Brad Armstrong.

Chi-Town Rumble (1989) and Wrestlewar (1989) were two of the Flair/Steamboat trilogy (the other sandwiched in the middle at Clash of Champions VI), with many considering Wrestlewar being the best wrestling match of all time.

Fall Brawl 1997, the Horsemen/nWo Wargames. So infamous. Such a war. Not as much blood as previous installments, but the story and build to that match was amazing.

Superbrawl IV just for the Regal/Arn Anderson match for the Television Title.

Spring Stampede '94 (See above). Another Flair/Steamboat match for the WCW Title. Austin/Muta. Regal/Pillman. Awesome stuff.

People think Wrestlewar is the best. Chi-Town had a screwy finish. Wrestlewar was clean as a whistle.
