Re: World Title Booking *ASE Spoilers*

The G1 is what sold me on AJ Styles. I used to watch NWA TNA since day 1 and he was a guy I always respected as a wrestler, but was never completely behind him. And I was skeptical about his run when he beat Okada too. But I still think something superficial like having a title helps the company and...

Re: World Title Booking *ASE Spoilers*

Yeah, very good question Robareid. And I never looked at it that way. ROH Champ (Briscoe, Ciampa, Lethal, whoever) + AJ Styles on a show very well could be better for the company. But I know for me personally, I'm more likely to attend a show if AJ is defending the title, as opposed to just having a...

Re: World Title Booking *ASE Spoilers*

Nah, I don't think the MLB stuff on a promotional interview is the only reason. I think the baseball stuff might have just been icing on the cake for a growing dissension between company officials and Elgin. It's not really a secret that Elgin has somewhat of a delusional point of view on several th...

Re: DGUSA/EVOLVE Thread

Not quite. It's a very old bathhouse, that is now a coffee/pastry shop (the main lobby) and an occasional art space. Old brick walls, exposed pipes, unfinished bathroom.

Re: DGUSA/EVOLVE Thread

I'm attending my first Evolve show next Sunday and I'm pretty excited. I'm going mainly for Uhaa vs Ricochet cause I loved there match in Dragon Gate this year. Also I'm a big ZSJ fan. I've never even watched an evolve show before but from the little I've seen of Gulak and Busick i'm pretty excited...

Re: DGUSA/EVOLVE Thread

From the little I've seen of him, I like his style. He can go up against a variety of opponents and look good/make others look good. Whether it's a famous luchador who is known for being lazy, a former WWE midcarder or a fellow starving indie wrestler, he fit in. I like how he sells, his mannerisms,...

Re: Best ROH title matches from each reign

Off the top of my head My favorites Danielson - vs KENTA Glory By Honor 5 Homicide - vs Jimmy Rave 5YF NYC Morishima - vs Nigel Fighting Spirit (this one was hard to choose because I remember really liking vs Shingo and the 3way with Claudio and Albright) Nigel - vs Aries from Rising Above Tyler Bla...

Re: Elgin leaving?

Briscoe going on an ignorant rant whether champ or not was much worse than Elgin being a bit careless about going into too much detail about baseball. It's not a huge deal. Just not the smartest decision.

Re: DGUSA/EVOLVE Thread

The Brooklyn show is a quick drive away but turns out I'll be busy on Saturday. Might try for Queens which isn't far either, but I also had plans for that night. Really want to see ZSJ and Ricochet. Also I keep hearing a lot of good things on Thatcher (not on this board obviously, but elsewhere) and...

Re: Interesting El Generico-related Tweet...

You don't really know if it would have worked or not. It very well could have given how good Generico is/was, even before he was fine-tuned for a wider audience.

Re: Elgin leaving?

I think Burnside is right on the money on this one. This shouldn't be an anti-Elgin/pro-Elgin thing. It wasn't the wisest thing to say, whether it was Elgin saying it or anyone else.

Re: Gabe Era vs. Pearce Era?

I tuned out for a while towards the end of the Gabe era. The faction angle was getting a bit old (and ridiculous), and the shows were so long. I specifically remember feeling the Aries match at Manhattan Mayhem II felt like something straight out of TNA at the time. Ref bump, overbooking, etc. I per...

Re: ROH World Title to be defended at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom?

There's a professional LA based voice actor/broadcaster that uploaded a few of the high profile G1 matches with his commentary over it. I didn't watch a full match because I'd already seen all of them, but I really liked the little I heard of his commentary and analysis. Not saying they should hire ...

Re: DBD13 to take place on SummerSlam '15 weekend?

Because Summerslam is either going to be in NYC or NJ, and having a wrestling show in the same area that weekend would be best for business.

Re: Revolution Pro Wrestling (RPW) Thread

Yep, I don't buy DVD's and don't follow many indy companies anymore, but if their stuff was available digitally, I'd pay to see Ricochet vs Okada.

Re: ROH Done Running the Manhattan Center

Terminal 5 has WAY more capacity than the Grand Ballroom, dude. Granted, T5 is usually standing room only, so the seating arrangement on the floor for this will affect the capacity, but it still does not compare to Grand Ballroom in size. This place is a lot bigger. I do think the main floor area of...

Re: ROH Done Running the Manhattan Center

Terminal 5 has about 4 or 5 bars set up throughout the building, so whiskey should be absolutely no problem for you. Just a tad on the expensive side. It is a NYC club after all :)

Re: ROH Done Running the Manhattan Center

How is Terminal 5 by the way? Is it a relatively new venue? It's been around since 2006 or 2007 from what I recall. I go there a lot because I'm super passionate about live music, and T5 is where a lot of the buzzworthy acts that are too big for the smaller clubs, but not big enough for arenas go t...

Re: ROH Done Running the Manhattan Center

I also feel they will most likely set the ring on the floor, with the ramp being part of the stage. However, rings are sometimes set up on stages at various non-arena events in NYC. Mostly for boxing though. I don't believe that will be the case here though. But you never know. Sometimes, it's not u...

Re: ROH Done Running the Manhattan Center

As someone who goes to Terminal 5 for music often, I'd like to give a heads up to people who might be interested in going to Final Battle. Since it's an all standing room venue for music, the balcony railings are very high. I can't imagine there being seating in that section, unless they use bar sto...
