Re: Official Road To "Best In The World '16" Thread

Jay Briscoe losing perhaps his last singles match en route to the PPV is a very strange thing to intentionally book. If they were to do a worked injury, surely it would be after a weekend of successful matches. Yikes, if this is a work. Though, overall, the results of the weekend seem pretty positiv...

Re: Official Road To "Best In The World '16" Thread

And War Machine look as awkward as they usually do the very next promo. At least we have this:

I'm way back into Coleman now.

I think that's the best I've seen from Hanson and Rowe. Maybe there's hope for them.

Re: Official Best In The World 2016 Thread

What Burnside said was unprovoked and a little mean, but your defense was so crappy and insecure; I mean, it was thoroughly ridiculous, just reread what you wrote. I'm surprised no one else called it out.

Re: Official Best In The World 2016 Thread

Youth-based promotion based on what? There are aperiodic claims of this on commentary throughout the years, even recent ones. None of those eight workers mentioned have been working less than 14-15 years. There’s probably 140 years between them. BJ-Corino can end and never comeback but complaining ...

Re: Official Best In The World 2016 Thread

Jay Lethal vs. Jay Briscoe
Steve Corino vs. BJ Whitmer
The Addiction vs. Motor City Machine Guns

Not a great look for an allegedly youth-based promotion in 2016.

Re: Official Best In The World 2016 Thread

I love when people act like they've got someone else all figured out. Rather arrogantly presumptuous and says waaaay more about you than it does about me. Secondly, you got personal pretty quick there over a rib. Just saying. I love when people act like they've got someone else all figured out. Rat...

Re: Official Road To "Best In The World '16" Thread

Did you just state that you don’t see a difference and then admit that you see a difference, even preferring one promo style over another, and then say that you, in general, hate ROH’s produced backstage segments. Like, what the heck? To pad back to Jay Briscoe, he’s tight-wound-serious and absurd a...

Re: Official Road To "Best In The World '16" Thread

Jay Briscoe’s promos on TV—which themselves are scarce—are produced and directed, which remove a lot of his idiom from the promos. That’s not to say that they come across poorly, but they are only OK, otherwise forgettable. I can’t imagine Jay Briscoe bringing up comments like “three-peating on that...

Re: Adam Cole's expected NJPW tenure

He'll "fit in" mostly in six man tags on the undercard and occasionally get a singles match without any real meaning. I just don't see him being a title contender in NJPW. Maybe I'm wrong. But he just doesn't seem to fit into the NJPW landscape all that well especially playing second fidd...

Re: Official Best In The World 2016 Thread

I don't see why O'Reilly couldn't have already held a TV title. It's cool that Fish is in that title picture, but who's to say a partner vs partner feud wouldn't be interesting? I thought Richards vs Edwards for the heavyweight title was awesome. Until it wasn't. Until it really wasn't. But if Kyle...

Re: Adam Cole's expected NJPW tenure

Even if now is not a fantastic time to be a debuting heavyweight in the Bullet Club, it opens Cole's doors much more to be a heavyweight, especially if there is a long run to consider. He would probably have a hard time getting over as a junior considering the audience's expectations of what top jun...

Re: Official Best In The World 2016 Thread

For months, Kyle O’Reilly has been garnering tepid reactions for a top babyface. It’s far from heel heat for a babyface, but it’s really not great. If ROH is sussing out the best avenue for Kyle to win the belt to a strong, positive reaction, perhaps at a TV taping wouldn’t be the worst idea. It wor...

Re: Official Best In The World 2016 Thread

Observer: The winner of the Jay Lethal vs. Jay Briscoe PPV match on 6/24, will then defend the title against Kyle O’Reilly on 6/25 at the TV tapings If ROH is deadset on making O’Reilly their next champion, it might be very possible that he wins on TV because of his weak PPV reactions a la Roman Re...

Re: Adam Cole's expected NJPW tenure

Adam Cole will do great in NJPW. The makeup of the NJPW crowd is different from ROH. There are lots of young women in the NJPW crowd and Cole will appeal to that demographic. AC is going to sell a lot of tickets to young Japanese women and hopefully increase their female fan base. He should be a st...

Re: Shouldn't the Bucks be Suspended?

There's nothing wrong with that statement. You can argue that it shouldn't have been said in the first place because it should be a given, but there is nothing wrong with making heels have to earn their title shots just like the babyfaces do. When an authority figure makes a statement for another w...

Re: Shouldn't the Bucks be Suspended?

McGuinness also has upgraded security around ringside to protect ROH staff, and he declared that Bullet Club members will not be able to strong-arm their way into title shots; they will have to earn them like every other competitor. Are they really turning Cole baybay-face? OH BOY. THIS MOTHERFUCKI...
