Re: Sinclair Thread incl. Tribune Merger

Overall I find it strange that ROH as a company seems far more attached to these disgusting ideals and practices compared to others, even the WWE who's contributed a huge amount of money to trump's campaign and politics, to accepting a large amount of money from a state that has a horrific record w...

Re: Random ROH Thoughts Thread

Ring of Honor Wrestling and Shane Taylor have agreed to terms on a buyout of his contract, effective immediately. ROH is currently in negotiations with Taylor for him to make his advertised defense of the ROH World Television Title at the Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view on Sept. 27 in Las Vegas ...

Re: Sinclair Thread incl. Tribune Merger

It's vile hate, no matter which side it comes from. Sinclair wrestlers should protest and refuse to perform. I just re-read what I wrote above, and I meant to write a very general "you" rather than address you specifically. (I always write in a general tone here. I don't have any interest...

Re: Death Before Dishonor 2019 Thread (9/27 Las Vegas)

Shane just doesn’t do anything for me. If he’s not having a big dude battle with Jeff Cobb, he’s boring. His match last time in Vegas with Cobb was GREAT. But Cobb helped a lot with that. Cobb does the strength spots. What does Shane do exactly? Taylor by himself just isn’t interesting as a wrestle...

Re: Sinclair Thread incl. Tribune Merger

Politics doesn't play into SBG and wrestling huh? https://www.instyle.com/news/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-attack-ad-boycott-abc The advertisement was paid for by the Sinclair Broadcast Group airing on all affiliates of SBG during the Democratic debate last night, of which Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez ...

Re: Random ROH Thoughts Thread

Why would NJPW drop ROH, whose show is on several platforms that NJPW isn't, to partner with Impact, whose show is moving to the same channel where NJPW is already the top rated show? It sure does read like NJPW is the one with all the leverage here. If anything, I think the major tactic Anthem/Imp...

Re: Death Before Dishonor 2019 Thread (9/27 Las Vegas)

Kind of an interesting promo and angle from Shane. I've never understood why someone so likeable is a heel or why I should ever be mad at him, but hey he's becoming more and more a character of interest since he's become the champion. Heel thinks ROH management is against them, everybody take a shot...

Re: Random ROH Thoughts Thread

Sort of like when WWE was planning to buy ROH or whatever. We'll see what this mean in the coming days I'm sure. If Anthem does acquire more shit it'll be rough considering their track record of destaffing valuable talent/programming.

Re: Death Before Dishonor 2019 Thread (9/27 Las Vegas)

I can totally understand that and I've been up and down with ROH all year, I think I have tried my hardest to focus on possitives that I see rather than worrying about something I really can't change. I do think to a point they have at least done that in a small way but removing Bully Ray from an o...

Re: Death Before Dishonor 2019 Thread (9/27 Las Vegas)

though my lack of confidence in management prevents me from looking forward to their direction or even shows in sequence for any extended amount of time. Do you find it is a trust issue to do the right thing?, as I think this is a major issue for ROH where fans don't feel they can trust them to mak...

Re: ALL PURPOSE CONTRACT STATUS/POTENTIAL DEPARTURES THREAD

It's time to rein in the American politics here. Overall, I can sense a strain of really general conservatism underlying ROH, but I doubt there's anyone that would guess that it's parent owner is a far-right news network based on the shows alone. Even though a lot of people know SBG sucks, I rarely ...

Re: Death Before Dishonor 2019 Thread (9/27 Las Vegas)

Updated the match card in the OP. I think the Young/Woods team against the Bouncers is a really terrible match to put on PPV, or basically anywhere other than TV or one of those Unscripted nights. It's just very against the tone of ROH matches. If Honorclub didn't make these shows much more affordab...

Re: Current best in the world

Ishii for me. He might even be a pick for who I think has delivered most for the entire decade (and it wasn't even until 2013 that he entered his first G1). Others I would add to the shortlist would be Kento Miyahara, PAC, Kenny Omega, Meiko Satomura, Tetsuya Endo, Yuji Okabayashi, Kzy, Sareee, Aris...

Re: Random ROH Thoughts Thread

I was thinking that Lethal/Bandido would be the final, so I'm nervous about this tournament! If I had my druthers, I would like the obvious Haskins/Bandido final as a capstone for Lifeblood and the new talent coming in this year more generally.

Re: AEW Discussion

I just felt like I was watching a mid-2000 John Cena match where no matter what Spears and Tully did to Cody he would shake it off and just crush Spears. Every Cody match for the past eighteen months for me has been trying to see why people are so into him and winding through five minutes before de...

Re: 2019 Top Prospect Tournament Thread

Out of the eight wrestlers we've seen so far, I like Brian Johnson most (he had the biggest carry match of anyone, so it makes sense he came out looking very competent). Draper is probably going to win the whole thing, which is whatever I guess, I don't think the tall Matt Morgan types tend to fit w...

Re: Random ROH Thoughts Thread

Bascially the expected names for the tournament, which is a good thing. ROH has such a logjam of good midcard/upper midcard talent that they could do a NOAH-sized round robin tournament and it'd probably be excellent. I hope every match in the tournament is given a legit opportunity to shine--I thin...

Re: ALL PURPOSE CONTRACT STATUS/POTENTIAL DEPARTURES THREAD

Even as someone who's been enjoying the actual content of the Taven Title Run, this contract situation is deeply funny and embarrassing. Like, what if he actually fucking leaves? ROH's PPV main event "star" status this year have relied on Lethal, Taven, Cobb, and Scurll--three of which ha...
