Re: Future Shock collides at “Best in the World 2012”

Sounds like a nice 'gimmick match' to mix things up on the card (like the aforementioned Ringmasters challenge, which I enjoyed), and I've always enjoyed Kyle and Adam with their stars continuing to rise, at least for me. Also can be the start of a serious feud between the two, as I can see them exc...

Re: The generic luchador

If this is about flights as he says it depends. Flights from Canada and the West Coast can get pricey. I can't imagine Rhino being too expensive to book, maybe Finlay and WGTT. I can't imagine Maria needs the money after all the money she has from WWE+her music career. Also she still does regular a...

Re: New Sanctions For The Tag Team Champions

starting with Aries and Strong? well of course. you're talking about two of the greatest wrestlers in ROH History - the only 2-time World Champ and a Triple Crown Champ. it's like saying - man, ROH hasn't been as good since Samoa Joe, CM Punk, and Bryan Danielson left. duh. meanwhile, post-Aries an...

Worst of the Best, Best of the Worst

I thought this might be a fun challenge for some of those with much ROH history knowledge. This idea came up during a different thread, but it caught my imagination. Someone mentioned how much the new 'Best of' Releases made him appreciate the old ROH more than the current product, while someone els...

Re: How Long Before People Turn On Steen?

We live in an instant gratification society and don't have much patience since we have to wait for little. It carries over to wrestling as well. 7 months and you'll start hearing some squawks, with it increasing month after month, barring something really intriguing happening to give him some longev...

Re: ... Is the end near?

Instead of making a new thread I'll just discuss this here. Can ROH ever leave SBG or does SBG completely own them 100% forever? Could Cary or anyone else buy back the rights to ROH from SBG sometime down the road? Yes to both. EDIT: And if I were to win the big bucks lottery, like 100 mil or somet...

Re: Worst Main Event Ever?

WWF: Yokozuna Hogan. Wrestlemainia IX. Yes, I know Bret Yoko was billed as the main event, but then they committed the ultimate atrocity in putting this in after it. ROH: 1st Year Anniversary Scramble Match. Easily. WCW: Anything in the last year. ECW: (the real ECW) Living Dangerously '98, Storm an...

Re: Austin Aries calls ROH "a shell of its former self"

Then again, you could call WWE a shell of its former self. Or All Japan. Or the NWA. Everything changes over time and ROH is no exception. Actually that it's been around long enough to be a 'shell of its former self' is an achievement. Been watching the old stuff lately, and it was good and very dif...

Yeah, this match is definitely how you end a feud. Normally I'm not big on chain matches, but it really worked for this one. **** 1/4.

Re: Not as good as I remember...

I've been having the opposite effect lately. With these best of compilations that I've been getting it's more for me like, HOLY SHIT this is so much better than the stuff going on now and than I remember. Rewatched Dragon vs Roderick from Vendetta... Holy shit that match blows away almost anything ...

Not as good as I remember...

Been going over some of the early ROH stuff in chronological order lately. As per some things in life, I am discovering my memories of how good things were do not always match with what I am currently seeing. I know over time we evolve, and now I find my opinions are changing, but I'm wondering what...

Re: RATE IT:Samoa Joe vs. Homicide (Death Before Dishonor 2,

Saw this not all that long ago. Very good match, and the true start to Homicide's heel run. I'd still give it ***3/4 stars. It was just short of 4, but close. (I do tend to rate conservatively)

Re: Thank You, Davey!

I loved the run he had (I confess to being a Davey fan to begin with), but at the same time, he did everything he had to do, and could do with the roster being what it is. I think it was the prefect time to drop the belt. Steen was the right man at the right time, something ROH hasn't done very well...

Re: NJPW ruined Davey Richards

I still enjoy Davey a lot, and still mark out for him, but yes, I did like his older style over his newer one. OTOH, if you keep doing the same thing over and over, eventually you become flat and boring using the same move set over and over (Ric Flair anybody?). It's a hard thing to do, including ne...

Re: Ovw in roh is a PROBLEMMMM

There are pros and cons to it. They need new blood in the roster, and if some/one of the OVW guys can come around and look good, then it'll be worth it. In the meantime, they do a good job enhancing the talent and I'm sure work cheap. But you know how long it takes time to uncover the future stars o...

Re: Worst show in history

Major candidates would include: Trios Tournament Thanks. You put a lot of work into that list and I agree with much of what you said. I've been rewatching some of the older stuff in order, including the Trios Tournament recently. The Gibson, Spanky, Nigel vs Joe, Danielson, Vordell Walker (which on...
