Re: AEW Discussion

I think that is a good idea. Otherwise you'll end up with someone who is 2-20 and the crowd won't care about them. Yeah, totally agree. I thought this might be a problem but it's reassuring to know that they're contemplating it. I would equate it professional sports teams records who are reset to z...

Re: "The Mecca" Brian Johnson Thread

Meh. Under no period of time in ROH history would this guy be on the radar at any level. Now he's considered someone people think could fit in. What a long steep drop. This times a 100. I can't believe the difference in talent from, let's say 2005 or 2006. I am still stubbornly loyal to the product...

Re: Death Before Dishonor 2019 Thread (9/27 Las Vegas)

I honestly don't mind Angelina Love. She can at least work. That doesn't excuse Mandy and Velvet, of course. It's just that they only seem to be able to do one or two things at a time with the WOH division. It doesn't hurt that Angelina is the one member of the Allure who doesn't have a boyfriend o...

Re: NJPW/ROH Relationship Status

Who didn't see this coming? NJPW had the luxury for years of getting their talent over at the expense of the ROH wrestlers. As a business decision NJPW look like geniuses. The MSG debacle with Enzo and Cass was a perfect way for them to bail out. One has to wonder also if the rise of AEW played a pa...

Re: NJPW Thread

What do people think in regards to NJPW potentially working an "unsafe" style? I get NJPW and Japanese wrestling has been this way for a long time, but do they do enough to protect their wrestlers?? As much as i enjoy the product and the matches, i can't help but think the wrestlers are a...

Re: ALL PURPOSE CONTRACT STATUS/POTENTIAL DEPARTURES THREAD

While I'm sure the money played a major, major factor in it, the opportunity to work for someone who's political bullshit doesn't affect you probably didn't hurt. AEW proudly promotes having a transgender wrestler on their roster. Would SBG entertain that with their political connections? Doubtful...

Re: Random ROH Thoughts Thread

I really hope the slow burn between Gresham and Lethal pays off, but I'm just not feeling it. One of my favorite storylines in ECW was the Lance Storm/ Chris Candido angle (which later included Rob Van Dam and Sabu). It was a perfectly executed storyline with an excellent payoff. I wish Lethal and ...

Re: ALL PURPOSE CONTRACT STATUS/POTENTIAL DEPARTURES THREAD

I find it fascinating that AEW crew left RoH due to Sinclair's politics and not because they found a rich wrestling fan who'd like to run his own fed with them as the core of it. While I'm sure the money played a major, major factor in it, the opportunity to work for someone who's political bullsh...

Re: AEW Discussion

Marvez is nothing more than a shill for the company. A blatant example of a conflict of interest...plus he sucks in the booth.

Re: ALL PURPOSE CONTRACT STATUS/POTENTIAL DEPARTURES THREAD

Taven leaving makes sense. Nothing left for him to accomplish. While I have a certain fondness for Taven, he has no legs after this title reign. It's not like he's anywhere close to Roderick Strong in the ring who could have a great match with anyone on the roster.

Re: Honor For All 8/25/19 Nashville

I think my problem with ROH is that, while for the most part the matches are fine, I have zero investment in the storylines. The lone exception is The Briscoes vs. Guerillas of Destiny, which was boosted by the promo skills of Jay Briscoe and Tama Tonga. Why Rush isn't using the Los Ingernobles merc...

Re: Weekly ROH TV Thread (on Sinclair Networks)

Way behind on my viewing, but I watched the Rhett Titus sit down and where the hell has this guy been for the last 5 years? It really added some relatable depth and flaws that made you want to pull for the guy. Why can't they push this instead of the whole cliched body builder thing?

Re: NJPW Thread

Finally got time to watch Ibushi/White. What a fantastic match. With some of the other stellar matches in the G1 this year, this one did not disappoint. The last 5 minutes or so were fucking great. Extremely happy with this year's G1.

KENTA joining Bullet Club and the subsequent ass kicking Shibata gave him, was the best angle I have seen in awhile.

Re: NJPW Thread

Zack Sabre Jr just laid out my favorite KENTA match this G1 (the latter of whom has looked his best in years). ROH should bring Zed Es Jay back. Have him cut promos on Sinclair Broadcasting or how nonsense the Lifeblood gimmick is, I dunno. Let Zack and Lethal roll around. I want to see the Jacobin...

Old enough to have seen Harley in the early '80's. Came across as a legitimate bad ass because he was and was a great in-ring wrestler. RIP.

Re: NJPW Thread

I loved SANADA/Okada and the last few minutes was exciting. You could feel SANADA's desperation to finally pin Okada with seconds left was riveting viewing.

Ibushi/Tanahashi was also excellent. The post match interaction between them was low key but priceless at the same time.

Re: NJPW Thread

Getting pretty deep into the New Japan bubble the past couple of years, I have definitely noticed people caring less about the company this year than last. With the Bullet Club civil war storyline last year, at least people were vocal about the changes and direction that were occurring. NJPW is pro...
