Re: Summer Supercard Thread

It’s INSANE that he was as over as he was and never won the title. Taven winning at MSG is beyond ridiculous considering that Scurll is STILL with the company right now. Scurll having the belt would have elevated the belt and the company as a whole, too. Just complete insane booking from ROH, as pe...

Re: NJPW Thread

I think a lot of the talent now that are getting what I'll call soft pushes (as in "it's clear that the company knows that the crowd is invested in them, but they are reluctant to make them a main title holder") are now adored by Japanese fans, even if they're non-NJPW or non-Japanese. Tal...

Re: NJPW Thread

Can I ask when you started watching New Japan Wilson? I want to say this current New Japan isn’t Bobb Sapp, Brock Lesner bad but you can tell a lot of these guys aren’t at the level they have been in the past, certain guys just aren’t clicking like Jay White even if he has improved a tone in the ri...

Re: What If - Enzo / Cass

The way they brought Enzo and Cass in, attended by the immediate feedback that followed, forced them to bail on any plans. So taken that the two would've debuted at like a TV taping in a way that was less of an awful worked shoot, maybe it would've garnered a reaction that would've been closer to wh...

Re: ALL PURPOSE CONTRACT STATUS/POTENTIAL DEPARTURES THREAD

One part of me is really glad to see ROH endure the repercussions they were owed for a litany of bad decision-making and another feels kind of crappy that this obvious down-year is happening when they are making moves that show genuine backbone rather than relying on the stars who actually became bi...

Re: NJPW Thread

Getting pretty deep into the New Japan bubble the past couple of years, I have definitely noticed people caring less about the company this year than last. With the Bullet Club civil war storyline last year, at least people were vocal about the changes and direction that were occurring. NJPW is prob...

Re: Summer Supercard Thread

Weirdly stacked show and it's even an weirder thing that they have not put Briscoes/GOD on any PPVs this year. On paper this looks better than Best in the World and could be better than whatever their plans are for Death Before Dishonor. Maybe billing certain events as PPV just matters less in this ...

Re: Ring of Honor Events Schedule Thread

By the way DBD is during the last peg of New Japan's Fighting Spirit Unleashed tour. ROH hasn't used any New Japan talent on their PPVs this year, but the coinciding dates puts a little uncertainty into Briscoes/GOD being booked for this night.

Re: Random ROH Thoughts Thread

The NWA/ROH relationship had me way more interested in ROH talent being used outside its system than NWA talent being brought in. Short-lived fun idea that I suspected would have a life as long the day NWA decided they wanted to become a real promotion.

Re: Wrestling Report Card

Cool thread, Montana! I'm going to grade below every promotion with respect to how I think they should be achieving. ROH : B In terms of building, rebuilding, and shuffling talent, this year has been a revelation for considering how I used to look at SBG ROH before it became the Bullet Club promotio...

Re: NJPW Thread

Moxley vs. Ishii might be my favorite match of the G1 thus far. Yeah, mine too. I didn't realize until they were in the ring at the same time how much each other's physical charisma would mirror each other, especially since they are such idiomatic wrestlers. Ishii is one of the few wrestlers of whi...

Re: Bully Ray Allegedly Shouts Down a Fan Backstage

From ROH: We have now concluded our internal investigation into the events that occurred in Portland on June 2nd and have taken appropriate actions with all parties involved. Our Code of Honor , which calls for sportsmanship, respect and honor in- and outside of the ring is a core value of this com...

Re: Random ROH Thoughts Thread

Promo from Matt Taven that demonstrates two things: a) he's good at wrestling b) maybe they really should swap Marty out of Villain Enterprises for Taven if/when he leaves and turn TK and Vinny Kingdom.

Re: All Elite Wrestling Thread

To be fair, I'm not sure the plan was to have Jericho vs. Page for the belt judging by the timeline of events. I'd say they were going for PAC vs. Omega for the title, Jericho vs. Moxley because they have history and could have done an actual grudge match without potted plants or whatever the hell ...

Re: Future of Honor Thread

I'm not sure if Future of Honor is a continued subbrand that ROH is continuing but Darkseid Coast 2 Coast vs. Master and Machine mostly follows its spirit. It's one of the better dark matches I can recall, and I think I'm into Master and Machine as a team (maybe this is where I take the time to say ...

Re: All Elite Wrestling Thread

The biggest difference between Page from now and then is that he knows that the crowd is behind him enough that he can heat them up taunts or calls to the crowd. It felt like during the G1 there was a flip switched between the Page that would base his matches on the SSP, moonsault, and somersault la...

Re: All Elite Wrestling Thread

For whatever reason, wrestling in bigger arenas in the States tends to have this bad problem in losing the crowd's attention and it was bound to happen to AEW as well. I only watched the interminable main event and Omega/CIMA, but the show from all I've seen was a definite miss. Hopefully I listen ...

Re: Ring of Honor Events Schedule Thread

New Japan has always had ambitions to do their own shows in the US. Eventually they would have to come to regular ROH markets. With as much weird contractual things adding tension between AEW and New Japan, I think ROH's partnership with the latter really "weakens" all that much, especiall...

Re: 2019 Top Prospect Tournament Thread

It wouldn't be an ROH message board if there wasn't a re-ligitation of Mike Bennett. Is there anything that strikes more at the heart of wrestling fora than a Just A Guy heel wrestler being pushed because they are a human lampshade of being Just A Guy? Up until Final Battle 2017, I really was beginn...
