Fox Sports Regionals & ROH
One of the more disappointing (among many) developments with ROH recently has been the lack of reaction by Sinclair to all of the TV landscape happenings right now. You have the WWE's deal with Fox for Smackdown, USA for NXT, Anthem buying AXS and immediately announcing Impact's new home. Contrast t...

Re: Best In The World 2019 OFFICIAL THREAD
I really only had 2 issues with the show: 1) The timing is what killed the main event and that's what made the booking problematic. If Taven had a really good 25 minute match with Cobb and won I think more people are talking about how good the match was than Taven retaining. 2) Having both Bandido a...

Re: Random ROH Thoughts Thread
To be fair, Brad Ward is a kid from Calgary that plays video games and likes wrestling. He's not even a wanna be reporter/ scoopster like so many on Twitter seem to be. He randomly tweeted that they'd signed deals with "huge downsides" (which isn't really applicable language in ROH deals, ...

Re: Official Masters of the Craft 2019 THREAD
but the atmosphere was probably even better. I've seen this a lot in 2019. I mean, crowds aren't as big, but they are way hotter and more invested in every match and every wrestlers. People come to see ROH now, not only the Bullet Club. Last year, there were tons of shows were you saw a big crowd, ...

Re: ALL PURPOSE NEW TALENT/SPECIAL ATTRACTION THREAD
I'm actually hoping that the Enzo & Cass thing was a test...do the worked shoot and see what the live crowd and social media reaction was. If it was negative (which saying it was would be an understatement), just move on and never do anything else with it. Fingers crossed!

Re: Random ROH Thoughts Thread
Couple of thoughts on the Enzo thing, which I personally hate btw: The problem for fans is that Sinclair ROH has always equated strong negative reaction with "heat"...which honestly the line is pretty thin on. Matt Hardy was a good example of everyone strongly rejecting. Taven is an exampl...

Re: Random ROH Thoughts Thread
Thinking Lethal & Gresham win the ROH Tag Titles off G.O.D. Lethal talked about wanting to make a run at the Tag Titles after his first World Title reign ended because it was the only title he hadn't held (6-man didn't exist yet). It'd be a good next move with him, I think and they'll be an awe...

Re: ROH/NJPW G1 Supercard Official Thread
I get that logistics aren’t the reason people are calling for New Japan to cut ties with ROH...I’m saying they should actually consider ROH’s role in the show happening as part of the equation. That actually brings up another point: I’m 100% sure that people were locked and loaded to jump on stream/...

Re: ROH/NJPW G1 Supercard Official Thread
As someone who hasn’t been nearly as invested in ROH the last couple years, I think the negatively around ROH following the show is excessive. I agree with a lot of what maxx said, particularly that people largely have ignored that Cobb, Bandito, the Briscoes and PCO/King were part of the “ROH porti...

Re: ALL PURPOSE CONTRACT STATUS/POTENTIAL DEPARTURES THREAD
I may be way off base on this, but it feels like the sudden Elite departures are a work of sorts. Cody announcing FB as his last ROH match weeks ago is what made me think of it. By all accounts Cody and the Bucks a)Have a pretty solid relationship with ROH management; and b)View the industry much di...

Re: ALL PURPOSE CONTRACT STATUS/POTENTIAL DEPARTURES THREAD
I actually think Daddiego was bad enough to be problematic. In my mind the two things that really damage the core of the ROH brand are: a) World Champions that aren't elite workers that can carry great main events. Sadly Cody's box office success likely set a path on this where that title will never...

Re: Which current WWE/NXT talent do you see returning to ROH first?
Roddy and Fish/O'Reilly as a team top my list. It really was good for them to go, though. As much as the talent on the roster was great, the period of time after Steen left where almost everyone re-signed and stayed for a couple years really hurt the company and was evident in the creative funk and ...

Big Red Machine wrote: Dalton won the belt, and quite, frankly, it doesn’t feel like that big a deal to me. Dalton Castle doesn’t feel like a main eventer. He feels like a popular singles upper-midcarder. Being a main eventer in ROH requires a proven track record of top-notch singles performances a...

Re: Random ROH Thoughts Thread
The funny thing is that if anything business is up MORE than reported this year. As rovert pointed out in his follow up posts, there was a period in late 2016 where there were some really weak crowds and a lot of people online disputed Meltzer's attendance or being artificially inflated. There was N...

Re: Random ROH Thoughts Thread
I've literally seen no one ever dispute the idea ROH hasn't had an uptick in live business - with increased ticket pricing too. What does this mean? Because the way it's written literally with the the double negatives you're saying that there's a thought that ROH has NOT had an uptick in business.....

Re: Random ROH Thoughts Thread
The Flo thing seemed shaky from the start. Business history is filled with companies funded by venture capital that go and burn it quickly only to collapse when not being able to turn a profit. Imagine if ROH had made the Flo deal and now (or even a year from now), a struggling Flo pulls the rug out...

Re: Ring of Honor Events Schedule Thread
I'm not an insider, but I wouldn't count on them running a show SS weekend anywhere near Houston.
One thing that NXT has done effectively is chased ROH from the non-Mania weekends. This was the first year in a few they didn't run on Rumble weekend, seemingly to avoid the NXT head-to-head.

Re: Ring of Honor Events Schedule Thread
I'm not a Cody fan...and I'm personally much, much less interested in ROH than I was a couple years ago (when I cared enough to track attendance figures), but I do objectively believe he's had a measurable impact on ROH. I say this because coming to that conclusion kind of shocked me. The first thin...

Re: ROH Unauthorized Official Thread
I think anyone upset about the War Machine thing is missing the idea of the "Unauthorized" shows. Like Night of Hoopla and Mike Bennett's Bachelor Party, these shows are supposed to be pure fun and kind of exist outside of any booking or characters. There's plenty of stupid booking to get ...

Re: ROH Unauthorized Official Thread
It's funny that Milwaukee did the "shots" chant at Taven again. I was at the show in early 2014 when the newly babyface Taven had a title shot against Adam Cole. He got a really mild reaction coming to the ring...then told the crowd he was buying everyone shots after he won the title that ...
